Good afternoon, all! After that experience with Schell's Bock last weekend, I've decided that I will never drink another bock that hasn't first been poked with a red-hot iron. The result is sweeter and silkier with more depth of flavor, and the thick foam that overflows the mug carries notes of toasted marshmallow. This process really elevates Shiner Bock to a whole new level. Next time I just might torch the foam, like a crème brûlée. What could possibly go wrong?

Yesterday I discovered Samson Bock and a local beer bar. Never ran into it before.

I'm not very familiar with maibocks, but I really enjoyed this, it has about 4 months on it and was abit flat, like to try this fresh!

Yesterday I had a Primator Double Bock.
    It`s a Czech beer.
    Definitely a Double Bock.
It came in a pint bottle. Very filling. I wouldn`t want to have more than 2 at one sitting.
It did go well with some Polish Kabanos and some Swiss Cheese.

I like the taste and feel of the Kloster Andechs Mai-Bock very much. Great bottle label, as well. This is the first year that I have seen the Mai-Bock. I had the Andechs Bergbock earlier this year, which has the same ABV and looks similar.

Dare I suggest that they're the same beer--as you point out: same ABV and similar look. I highly doubt that Andechs brewed a different beer. I suspect that they just re-labeled the Bergbock Hell as a Maibock for the US market--similar to what they did with their Spezial (re-labeled it for the US market calling it a Festbier).

I agree, but don't have any additional evidence. The brewery website products list does not mention the Festbier, or the Mai-Bock.

For whatever reason, I waited until May to start drinking on my Maibocks.

Starting off with an 'original' one: Hofbrau Maibock.

Malty delicious-ness and dangerously drinkable at 7.2%

Thought I'd also share one of my vintage Maibock posters.

I posted this beer in this thread deep in the heart of winter. This beer is equally satisfying on a gorgeous spring day.
