Surly - Mosh Pit Hazy IPA

12oz can served in a snulip. Can is dated "best by" 06/20/2024. @ovaltine sent it to me in NBS BIF #18.

Pours hazy pale orange-amber, small head. Smell is tropical juice and pith.

Taste has a hint of old hay, but definitely dominated with juicy tropical stuff, somewhere between papaya and pineapple, with a little bit of a citrus pith bitterness. Some orange julius character.

Mouthfeel is medium weight but dry and airy. Overall, pretty good IPA.

Forgot to mention this highlight from the GF brewery Divine Science

Gorgeous deep brown. Slight off white head. Low retention, slight lacing.
Nose is smooth in roast and malt.
Flavor follows. Goes on the direction of a well executed Irish stout.
Mouthfeel is almost full enough for style.

12oz can served in a tulip. Can seems to be dated 2024-03-06. @ovaltine sent it in NBS BIF #18.

Pours moderately hazy, yellow-amber, with a dense, medium-sized cap, lots of active carbonation. Smell is bright fruit, pineapple seems clear, but something I would typically not nail down beyond "vaguely fruity" might be called "berry" because the label says so.

Taste is vastly different. Banana was my first impression, followed by mango skin bitterness. Let's dive back in. I still get strong Belgian banana vibes. Still a lot of bitterness, though, I think it's mango skin and melon rind.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, prickly effervescence. Overall...I mean, it's not bad, but there's no way I would call this an IPA without "Belgian" in front of it.

    Happy Anniversary!

And today was the real struggle of forced socialization...the cast party. Held in a church, so not even beer for the parents...and then in clean up efforts, I vacuumed an entire god damn acre (ok, not really an acre, but in reality, a carpeted area the size of a basketball court).
