Trying a Goudale « Belgian IPA » and preparing for the LOSC match

 

Good Monday BA's! Buffalo chicken tenders and carrots for lunch with a Summerfest. Managed a 16 mile bike ride on a paved trail this morning.

This trail is paved and about 10 feet wide. It only crosses 2 country roads and goes under 3 busier roads, 31 miles round trip.

 

Griswold Lake looking excellent this early in the season. Sure miss our lot with the Remis Lodge.

A little crazy to still have these in my refrigerator (canned 2/16/23 - the final canned batch). Still peeved they didn't have a small batch taproom release of this in 2024.

No not many folks at all, maybe 6-8 others. Late afternoon on week days gets fairly busy now that it's light until about 2000 hours. Cheers!

Howdy all. I'm enjoying some beers today as ystrdy was white wine day with my lady. We were busy bodies & got a lot done around the house. This Summit Triumphant is great. Last one and I'm also out of High Life. Mysterious vanishing beers. Cheers!

Drums tmrw night at the Driftwood Char Bar so I'd better get my beer funk happnin' now. Victory Prima Pils should help guide me along. It is a nice Pilsner that I would not shag. Cheers!

1) Fair State Strong Friend Moves (4.5%): A German Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of light lemonflower, pale malts, yeast. Crisp and dry.
versus
2) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a yeasty and pale malt finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Surly Hell: German lager battle. Both are from The Twin Cities. First is Fair State. This is a light and crisp, hoppy pilsner. Excellent flavors. Dry and crisp. This is great.
Next is Surly Hell. One of my favorite German lagers. Tons of lemonflower, but not overpowering. Mildly sweet, but the flavors are perfect. I always think that this one deserves more recognition in the Surly brewing repertoire than it gets. Cannot go wrong with either of these.

Having a Pale Ale with extra India added.

 

Saison Dupont. The mother of Farm House ales and session beers, some say. But let's avoid that endless discussion about those categories here
Never had any session beer or farm ale that tasted like Dupont. Probably their yeast, combined with a dry hoppy taste.
