1) Toppling Goliath Haze Cadet (7.8% canned 4/15/24): A NEIPA from Iowa (collab with Boulevard in KC) with Citra and Strata for flavors of orange, zesty graperuit, blood orange, tropical OJ, papaya, and mango.
versus
2) Space Camper Elusive Thunder (9.5% no canning date): A NEIPA from Iowa (collab with Boulevard) with Citra and El Dorado for flavors of smooth tropical orange, cantaloupe melon, pineapple, and papaya. Tropical and smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Toppling Goliath Haze Cadet: A Toppling Goliath/Boulevard Brewing IPA Battle. Both are from Toppling Goliath in collaboration with Boulevard in Kansas City. First is Haze Cadet. Citra and Strata. A bit dank upfront, but fades quickly into zesty orange and grapefruit citrus. Nice Citra and Strata combo, actually it's excellent.
Next is Elusive Thunder. I'm not a fan of it being larger at 9.5% and listed as a "hazy" but not a NEIPA and pours clearer than you'd expect. Comes through with the aroma and flavor. Strong orange, cantaloupe melon, papaya, and pineapple. It's slightly heavier, but lighter than you'd expect for the ABV. Leave it to these two great breweries to make a good beer in even a bad style. Not a fan of TIPAs, but this drinks well. Haze Cadet gets the win, but Elusive Thunder was a nice surprise.

 

At the house this afternoon working in the yard and watering potted plants. Taking a break on the back patio, drinking Other Half’s “Space Broccoli” DDH IIPA:



The Galaxy really shines - Grapefruit, passion fruit and peach. Other Half makes excellent hazies. Cheers y’all!

Happy Wednesday BAs! Just sitting on the porch, enjoying a beautiful spring day and sipping on an IPA. Muskoka's Mad Tom, to be precise. One of the beers that made me fall in love with the style, back in the day. Cheers!

Having a Sugar Shack Light Lager at Noble Beast Brewery. Made from straight unconcentrated maple sap rather than water. Pretty solid effort.
