Yeah, I thought it was just me. I can't stand when these new BA Stouts on Draft are served at 32 degrees F. Mikerphone seems to be doing it a bit better. More and P3 are still freezing cold. With how advanced our modern breweries are, it shouldn't be that hard to serve the stouts a bit warmer. At least I'd think so, but obviously I'm wrong.

I probably look stupid doing it… but I am that guy cupping my stout with both hands to warm it up. Despise an ice cold stout! Hands do warm it up faster tho!

beer temple (44) and side project (52) publish the temperatures they serve their beers at.

let’s start a letter-writing campaign! We can meet and write a new letter every time we polish off a different room-temp bottle of dark lord.

We all understand how draft systems work, right? Kegs go in cooler, tubes go in keg, beer comes out faucet, if all the kegs are in a 34 degree cooler, how do you control the temp?

Some forward thinking breweries and taprooms create different temperature coolers for different styles of beer, but there's no mechanism to warm up a beer from the keg to the glass in the 1 second it takes for the liquid to reach it. So most places just serve everything at the same temp. Do you want your barrel aged stout warmer? Cup the glass with 2 hands, it works really well.

Plus I enjoy the evolution of a draft barrel aged beer as it goes from blue mountains cold to ambient temp over the course of 30-45 minutes. Ya'll chugging your VSOJs out there?

Yet SP’s dark beers still seem to be served too cold, especially at the Cellar. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had a beer there and consumed half of the pour before it finally got to what I consider to be an appropriate serving temp.

Beer Temple better than that...they serve beers at 3 different temps. 35 degrees, 44 degrees and near room temp for their cask beer.

All this temperature talk has me reminiscing about the old Jackie O's thread. This was the hill @Sabtos was frequently willing to die on. It was a fun train wreck to watch from a distance.

That was always interesting to watch. People got so territorial over it. The stance some people took was as ridiculous as when the thread went to, “it’s your fault your beer is infected. You should have drank it fresh. Tough titties. You don’t deserve better!”

While I'm out here A D V O C A T I N G for beers I've been enjoying I grabbed a 4 pack of Pixel (a beer I already really really enjoyed) and it had been a while and I am once again really impressed. They nail that pulpy grapefruit thing with a bunch of other tropical fruits in the background. It's been a while since I've had Beezer or Le Jus, but this has to be my favorite year round 6ish% Hazy IPA.

Haven't had any P3 in a while. Every time I peruse the craft beer section at Binny's I never really see anything all that interesting from them. Back in the day when they were riding the hazy wave, they were neck and neck with Hop Butcher imo. Still need to get over to the taproom in Elmhurst.

New Tonal Range blew me away. As did the last one. Crazy how much fruit is in there and I love that it's not as sweet as the other hazies.
I picked up coconut in there somewhere, even though this is a Citra/Mosaic beer. Super tropical. 5/5

I'm probably repeating myself somewhere but House Plants is likely my favorite local NEIPA. The Citra, Vic Secret and Rakau hop combo hits the spot for me. ymmv.
