Reporting reviews

Great question.

As a mod, I don't see any option for reviews by others other than report (abuse).

I've never seen a review report in the mod queues, but perhaps a report would show up and give us options to edit, move, delete, etc. If I could self-report one of my reviews, I'd test things out for you.

Maybe @Todd can elaborate what happens when a review is reported.

 

I'm not sure they show up in the moderator que. Over the years I've seen some place and beer reviews removed (including some that I reported for abuse), but I never saw the report in the que. Maybe those go directly to @Todd or one of the site editors?

I assume as a Super Mod (and for a number of years) you’d have access to it (site editing and forum mod) but reviews and inappropriate ones might be up to Todd only.

As a reminder, even Super Mods can’t ban people either. They may take into consideration a report about an annoying and troll-ish user but that decision and ban hammer is onto Todd.

 

You report the review, it gets dropped into a queue, and I review it. We don't get many (literally a few a week), but many of the ones that we do get aren't worthy of a report. They're clearly being reported as someone doesn't agree with the review/user.

The issue here is that the reporting system for reviews doesn't include a reason. It's really meant for blatant abuse of the system, but that's not conveyed. So, if a review is done say under the wrong beer...I can't really tell, but you can drop me a DM if needed and I'll see if I can work in some clarity.

 

Without proof, you're assuming that it's a burner account and that their intentions are bad vs. someone who just loves a beer that you don't.
