In that case, you could also walk to the Stoup Cap Hill location, so could cross that one off the Ballard list too

Since you don't seem to be opposed to a bit of strolling, I have a suggestion: A Frelard Meander.

Start in the Fremont neighborhood (it borders Ballard). Hit Fremont Brewing. A few blocks away is Brouwers Cafe (excellent beer selection and great food), and Theo chocolate is right next door. Continue on towards Ballard, there's a some bars if you get a thirst, and soon you'll arrive the above mentioned Jolly Roger. Keep going, and you end up in Ballard where Old Stove has a spot, and, well you seem to know about Ballard.

I've done this a couple times, and it's a fun way to go and get a feel for a couple of Seattle's neighborhoods.

this was generally the plan every year after hard liver fest, just edited a little. we always made sure to stop at outlander brewing after brouwer's and get a little taster of whatever their weirdest beer was before undergoing the longest part of the walk. they still around making weird beers? i hope so.

Suggestions for a place or 2 to stop heading south out of town? Went to Mirage & Full Throttle yesterday.

Georgetown? Fast Fashion SODO? Are Jellyfish or Beneficial any good?

Well, since Brouwers is closing towards the end of June, it just bumped to the top of the list to visit and may well follow the path that you outlined.

So, we just came back from Seattle after having a wonderful Father's Day and my son's wedding on Monday. For Father's Day, we went over to Fremont Urban Garden for lunch and a few beers. Great services, wonderful environment (sat outside), and enjoyed some pizza and amazing beer. Then, we headed over to Brouwer's Cafe to have a beer, only to find out that they were closed for Father' Day. :slight_frown: Originally, we were going to Saturday night, but we missed our flight in the morning out of San Jose and had to fly Saturday night. It just wasn't meant to be!

We did have a chance to visit Reuben's and Urban Family in Ballards. Both had great service and a fun atmosphere. We had a lite dinner at Reuben's which was very good. Afterwards, we walked over to Urban Family (saw a rabbit along the way!). It was bingo night, but didn't have a chance to join. Beers were good, but not amazing. My favorite was the Porter at Reuben's with a BA Stout at Urban Family being a close second.

Hey everyone! My wife and I are going to be in the PacNW for a few weeks in the fall with a stop in Seattle for several days. Not sure exactly how many nights, but we are going to use it as a base to see some of the other stuff in the area while also enjoying the city. After doing some research we are thinking that the Belltown or Queen Anne areas are places we may stay. Any suggestions on either? Always looking for places we can walk to good food/eats, but also want to be safe and be able to drive in/out of the city w/out a major hassle.

And if you have other suggestions, just let us know. Thanks in advance!

Not Seattle specific, but, as usual, I'm gonna drop a plug for my city, Bellingham. A couple hours (depending on traffic, could be less, could be more) north, we've got 14 breweries in town, and we're worth visiting for an overnight. If you like outdoorsy stuff, we've got plenty of that nearby, and a great urban trail system if you want to walk around without getting out to the boonies.

I frequently stay in Belltown when I'm down, and I quite like it. I'll let some true locals chime in, but I think it's more easily walkable to more stuff than Queen Anne. Also slightly less big hills. They're both pretty easy for I-5 access for getting in/out.

Odd you mention Bellingham. I have a buddy who is friends with one of the guys involved with Otherlands (owner, brewer, not sure). We may try and make it up that far north, especially if we decide to check out Deceptoin Pass or North Cascades.

Ben? He's the owner(along with his wife)/brewer. Super nice guy, and they make great beer. They're a must hit if you're coming up. I'd be happy to meet ya for a couple pints and show ya around a bit.

    Non-beer related -

I need suggestions on two things - 1) we're landing at say 9:30pm, and we're gonna be hungry - going from SeaTac to the Fremont district - decent late night spot that'll still be open? Could be a great local diner, great local pizza, or even something off the board. Open to all.

    2) Suggestion on a go-to seafood place for a 'nice' dinner out? Doesn't need to be white linen; already doing lunch at Yoroshiku in Fremont, as I had a great experience last time, but looking at somewhere to do dinner on Wednesday night that wouldn't require me to get too dressed up (I don't mind dressing up, but I'm going to be out all day and just want to roll into dinner).

EDIT - make that 3 things - any place to get Structures cans in Seattle?

So, I'll throw out three possible spots, with varying levels of fanciness. All three places have great seafood IMHO.

Palisades. If you decide you want to do something fancy after all, this would be the place. Great seafood, excellent wine list, white linen... the whole nine yards. They do have their own parking lot, which is a nice feature (or you can valet I think). As they like to say in the Michelin red book, you will pay accordingly.

Cutters Crab house. Definitely a step down from Palisades, but still very good food and service. Great location as well. Parking can be problematic, but that's the only detraction I can think of. You won't need to dress up here, but no one will give you a strange look if you decide you want to.

Dukes on Lake Union. Once again, really good food and service. The most affordable of my three recommendations as well (though it's not cheap). Pretty good beer and wine selection as well. Duke's has a parking lot (it's a pay lot), which is a bonus in that part of town. Dress code is comparable to Cutter's.
