    Greetings advocates.

After mentioning about my mother surgery I can tell you all she’s doing well in a clinic for several good weeks, resting and basic post operation needs.

In different news, my father texted me he has no longer internet on his phone. This goofus probably put it on airplane mode or some odd thing so he’ll visit the IT guy I pretend to be. Dealing with boomer parents ya know. :grinning:

    La trappe Tripel… cheers!

As expected this was nothing more than my father inadvertently setting his phone to airplane mode… funny old bugger it was nice to see him nonetheless. Drinking now Tripel Karmeliet:

    Cheers!

Hilarious story about airplane mode Dad @Shanex . IT folks would call these mishaps “A Glitch” where I worked. There were plenty of them, age or education level might skew the odds but glitches struck just about everyone.

Still have plenty of cellar beers and cool enough this morning to enjoy one. No cellar review since I did one for this same batch last month. Happy Victoria’s Day Canada!

I really like the way you play. Would love to have you take lead guitar on Layla, and then I’ll take the guitar and you piano on the exit.

    David Sancious: Thanks.

David far right on guitar and later piano (dark blue shirt).

Taste on entry is less malty than I'd hoped with a greater emphasis on the hops. Rather simple flavors that are working well together producing a clean taste of malt and hops that are rather middle of the pack at best. Noticeably better than our usual AAL thirst quenchers it still lacks the presence to rise very far above those. It does drink and finish dry, which is a plus, but comes across as a red shirt in a championship field.

Decided to try mixing my coffee with a stout. Narwal is a great beer, just not great with my coffee. Anywho, glad I tried it.

Happy to hear that your mom is recovering well.
And, as a fellow boomer, I can empathize with your dad.

Thanks sir! My father will turn 80 next year and we rather laugh it off at the Luddite he is. You’re definitely more a tech guy than him, by posting photos on a forum such as this one. Cheers!

Happy Monday BA's! Decided to go for a ride and felt good so I kept going. Managed 25.3 miles in 1:38. Not fast by and means but endurance is slowly coming back. All Day IPA as a small reward.

    1) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. Bitter finish.
    versus
    2) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

A battle between two of my favorite lagers from The Cities. This is one of my first posts that made Page #1 of WBAYDN.
First is Fair State Pils. A wonderfully, bitter and flavorful German Pils. I've been trying to support this brewery and drink more of these.
Up against Surly Hell. I don't know what style this other than a German Lager. It has lemonflower flavors with a strong yeast component. Not bitter like a pilsner though. Sort of drinks similar to a Kellerbier. It doesn't get the recognition from other Surly beers, but I think this is one of their best.
For the winner I'm going with Fair State Pils. Side-by-side the bitterness adds a nice addition. Fully enjoying both of these favorites today.

Had to make a quick run to the store for another
Twelve pack of Summerfest. The glass was given to me by the owner of Tin & Lint, they use shaker pints or plastic cups, so this glass has been there since 2013, when the beer distributor gave it to them

    Happy Monday, BA!

Took today off to take care of house work. Did grocery shopping, cut the grass, and weeded back patio. Now some wings for lunch with Tree House Julius

Then a Tree House Juice Project Citra + Barbe Rogue
    [IMG]

Yard is killing me, all the rain + grass height cuz i've been too busy to tend to it has yielded some pretty serious overwatering damage :slight_frown:

    onto power washing!

    cheers!

    1) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 4/14/24): A NEIPA from Iowa since 2014 that is brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of orange citrus, pineapple, and tropical mango.
    versus
    2) Toppling Goliath Haze Cadet (7.8% canned 4/15/24): A NEIPA from Iowa (collab with Boulevard in KC) with Citra and Strata for flavors of orange, blood orange, tropical OJ, papaya, and mango. (Mismatched the tow beers blind)

Have the day off today so first time I have gotten on Page 1 WBAYDN, let alone two posts.

Revisiting this Toppling Goliath IPA Battle. The first time I did this I thought both drank nearly identical and couldn't tell them apart blind. Now I found the two with nearly identical canning dates. Again today, I couldn't get them right. I'll probably have to keep doing this battle until I can get them right in a blind taste test.
First is the King. All Citra hops. Some orange creamsicle and mango underneath. Classic.
Next is Haze Cadet, with the addition of Strata. Nearly identical aromas. On the flavor it has slightly more grapefruit and zesty pineapple. Slightly more of the hop zing. Both fantastic. I think I prefer the Haze Cadet here as the hop flavors seem to pop more, however I think the King is slightly more smooth.
