This day is a ten for sure. We went for a hike this morning at the Maxwell Mays wildlife refuge. Came home and did some chainsaw tree work. Forgot to put sunscreen on...oops pretty crusty. Back pain is an issue of course after me trying to ignore it all day.
Time to chill, have a beer, grill some steaks and partake in some relaxing Memorial Day traditions while saying thank you to all that have sacrificed their lives for us to be able to enjoy the freedoms we have. Let's hope the next generations keep appreciating these days....though I have my doubts with the way things seem to be going presently. It's a fkn shame. But for now let's be positive and raise a glass! Cheers!

 

Hop Butcher Blazed Green Relish (8.0% canned 2/6/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, and Sabro for flavors of fresh orange, green papaya, and zesty citrus.

Happy Friday Advocates. Figured after that last battle I better reeducate myself on the Strata hop. Grapefruit, mango, a bit of pineapple and pineapple. This has the addition of Sabro which provides some tropical, green notes. All three hops are pretty tame here. This ages and still drinking quite well. Six months out I bet it will still drink quite similar. I still don't regret buying Hop Butcher in bulk.

 

At Minnesota BEER Company in Grove City. This is a pour your own place, but they also make some of their own beers.

It has a good flavor for a Red.

On tap at the brewery
This beer pours a semi clear amber color. There's a bit of a white head.
Nose is fairly faint. I get a slight rye like biscuit nose.
Taste - this beer is malty, as expected. Good caramel malt to this beer and is slightly roasted. Some biscuit flavor. Hint of toffee. Very malty.
The body has a good fullness to it. Smooth feeling overall.
This is good. A lot in this style are bland, this is not.

 

Taste like Summertime. I love Summerfest

Nice old school DIPA right there! I was saddened to hear that Lagunitas closed down their Chicago brewery and taproom immediately. Was always a great time there. The sheer size of the brewing tanks themselves was impressive. They might have been bought out, but I still enjoy them. I just wish they would bring back Sucks.
