Nursing a food hangover today after a party here with friends and some great smoked meats yesterday. Today is slow with off and on small showers but heavy rain is coming around dinner time.
My beer is The Usual from Eredita, run by a Hill farmstead alumn that brews his beer at 12 Percent. This is my second beer from Eredita. This beer must be new, I had to add it to the BA database and its not on the Eredita website.

Poured from a 16oz can stamped “for uncle BO, 05/07/24” to a nonic at fridge temp.
A light gold body with slight haze sits below a below-medium white head of multi-sized bubbles that fades rather quickly but does lace moderately for a while anyways.
Immediately on the pour this is the most grapefruit-smelling beer I can remember. That sensation eventually subsides to a more subtle bread and pine smell.
The taste is of grapefruit rind, tangerine sweetness and a surprise pine finish. Nice.
The mouthfeel is quite light, carbonation is slightly above medium.
A tasty beer, with a combination of fruit and pine in a light body.

All right work is done for today and now I am at Bad Habit Brewing in St Joseph, MN, and enjoying this.

Flippity Flop - Bad Habit Brewing- Imperial IPA- 10%

I added this beer 6 years ago, but never had it till today, and I am the first review. I am enjoying this. It is a tropical beer with sweet mango and guava up front with bitter pineapple on the back. Quite tasty and doesn't drink like 10%.

    On tap at the brewery
This is a murky and hazy golden pouring beer. Quite juicy looking. The head is a white ring around the rim of the glass.
Lots of mango on the nose. There's also notes of pineapple.
Taste is somewhat sweet up front with a good hit of mango and guava. This sweetness fades and goes full on pineapple on the backside with a pleasing bitterness.
The beer is somewhat smooth feeling. The feeling of the bitterness does linger. No alcohol burn.
    Tasty beer overall.

Be back later with at least one more. Cheers!

District.96 Brewing Factory - Mother Of All Photo Bombs

Double New England IPA with Mosaic, Citra and Rakau hops, from America (8% ABV).

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical, stone fruit, citrus hops, with notes of passion fruit, guava, apricot and orange.

Taste is a great balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly floral and grassy hops, with tropical, stone fruit and citrus notes of passion fruit, guava, pineapple, apricot and orange. Finishes with a light bitterness and some guava, apricot and orange lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This one came as a bit of a disappointment to me after I have not rated a single IPA I've had from District.96 at less than 4.6. It's still good, but the hops are not as juicy, vibrant and most of all well-defined as I'm used to from this brewery. There's also that certain hint of flintstone vitamin, which makes me think that I might have gotten an old can here.

Which is weird, because it should have been from the same delivery as the one I had 3 weeks ago and was excellent. Not sure if this one is older than I thought or just not up to their usual standards, but honestly if a brewery doesn't print canning dates on their cans, they deserve the "bad" review. This is still pretty good, just not as stellar as every other brew I've had from them so far.

Participation seems to be slowing down somewhat, let's keep it up and make it past 10 pages on this long weekend, almost there! I thought I'd go for a German NEIPA for a change, after all those American cans I've had recently, and there's certainly noone in Germany that makes them quite like Atelier Vrai (formerly Atelier der Braukünste).

Atelier Vrai - Godmode (Post Pandemic).

Double New England IPA with Citra, Nelson Sauvina nd Strata hops, from Germany (7.8% ABV).

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical, citrus and berry hops, with notes of passion fruit, orange and white grape, as well as a certain dankness coming through as well.

Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, dank and slightly spicy and herbal hops, with tropical, berry and citrus notes of passion fruit, mango, white grape, gooseberry, grapefruit and lime peel, ass well as some herbal weed and just a hint of chili. Finishes with a light/mewdium bitterness and some passion fruit, white grape, grapefruit, weed and chili. Soft, pillowy mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

Noone does NEIPAs quite like Atelier Vrai in Germany right now, not even old favorites like Frau Gruber or Fuerst Wiacek, who really seem to have fallen off since opening their own breweries. It's not just by German standards though, I would probably say that Atelier Vrai is the only brewery in Germany right now that does not need to fear international comparison of this style either, with the mouthfeel of their NEIPAs being particulary outstanding.

The hops are just so juicy, vibrant and well-defined here, with the Strata standing out particularly with bright passion fruit, dank weed and spicy chili. I've never quite gotten that certain chili note from Strata as strongly as here and it's quite fascinating.

    Land Grant - Lemon Glow

12oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. There's a stamp on the bottom, but I can't read it. From @ovaltine in NBS BIF #18.

Pours a slightly hazy bright yellow with a big fluffy head, plenty of active carbonation visible at rest. Smell is, unsurprisingly, dominated by lemon zest and citrus in general. Some orange blossoms, too.

Taste is similarly citrus forward, but there's a strong malty backbone, gives a moderate grainy flavor.

Mouthfeel is full but airy. Overall, very nice pale ale.

From the ever generous @FBarber via the NBS BIF#18

Short Throw Brewing Co. 2-Click Flare Imp Stout Vermont Maple Syrup, Marshmallow & Coffee, 12.8% ABV; 4.16 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a pinky of mocha colored head. Some head retention & lacing

S: Marshmallow & cocoa, Maple once warm, some hints of booze

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry, Maple Candy up front. More dryness & Maple Candy as this beer warms up, chocolate, vanilla & marshmallow as well, a little boozy warmth on the tongue. Finishes with marshmallow, chocolate & maple candy, with expected dryness

MF: Fairly thick, dialed back carbonation, but does pick up once warmed up

Solid Adjunct Imp stout, drinks fairly easy despite the heft

    Narragansett — Fresh Catch

I didn't need more beer, but for the last several years I routinely pair my daily walks with beer shopping. This was one of these weekend walks with Wegmans as a beer stop. There wasn't anything particularly interesting there, but I wanted to get something, so I ended up with the Narragansett Fresh Catch — a Citra session ale.

The beer is slightly hazy orange with a quickly disappearing head and decent lacing.

The nose is of light hop and malt.

The taste is mild hoppy refreshing beer, with enough bitterness and richness not to feel watered down like many session beers taste.

Overall it is a readily available version of Tree House Eureka w/ Citra.

    Athletic brewery wits peak
    ...cloudy pale gold appearance
...medium light carbonation yet seems almost a little prickly. Body is close to medium which is always unusual for this type
...aroma is citrus, mostly orange peel with a hint of a grain I cant adequately define. Theres some floral honey in the background.
...taste is similar to aroma in almost every way which works fairly well. The only knock is theres a taste and I believe its what people describe as wort.
...overall judging it within its own class its pretty good[IMG]

From a 16oz can purchased at the brewery. Filled May of 24'

This beer is fairly clear pouring, but has a slight murkiness to it. There's a bit of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. Thr head is less than 1 finger and white. Not extremely long lasting with a bit of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is interesting. There's a good bit of sweetness here in it, almost like honey. There's also a hint of hops with a slight bit of mango and pine.
Taste - I am getting a honey, biscuit sweetness up front. It is very malty. The hops come into play on the back with pine and mango flavors. These hop flavors do build a bit and add a bit of bitterness to this beer.
The body is somewhat creamy feeling. Smooth, full with hop bitterness on the back.
This is an interesting beer. Very sweet and malty up front, with hops on the back. While not a west coast pine bomb, it is still tasty.

    Maybe one more today.

Pühaste Brewery / Megobrebi Brewery - Made in Singapore

Pastry Sour with strawberry, raspberry, red grape, vanilla and chocolate chip cookies, from Estonia (6.5% ABV).

Pours a opaque, deep crimson red coloration with a small, fizzy, quickly disappearing head. Smells of sweet strawberry, tart raspberry and cookie dough, with hints of chocolate also coming through.

Taste is a great balance of fruity, tart and sweet strawberry and raspberry notes, with the red grape also coming through more strongly than in the nose, as well as some cookie dough and lighter chocolate and vanilla. Finishes with a light sweetness, medium tartness and some raspberry, red grape and cookie dough lingering inn the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

I can quite enjoy a well done Pastry Sour, a guilty pleasure of mine, and this definitely qualifies, proving once again that Pühaste makes these Fruited Sours just as well as they do Stouts and Porters. The cookie dough comes through surprisngly strongly here, along with lighter chocolate and vanilla. These sweet notes are balanced rather well by tart raspberry and red grape though, not feeling cloying or overwhelming. Mouthfeel is rather nice as well, but could be a bit more thick for the style.

    Luscious

9.2% Russian Imperial Stout by The Alchemist

Poured from a pint can, the body is a dark black with a mocha colored head. Very good lacing during the tasting.

Aroma is an inviting mix of malted barley and chocolate. Perhaps a light coffee note.

Taste follows nose but with amped up flavors. The chocolate rises and adds sweetness. Mid-swallow a bitter note appears, merges well with the sweet chocolate malt flavor, and slowly tapers off. The ABV is present but not hot.

Soft mouthfeel and good carbonation. Finish is pillow soft and a lingering light bitterness.

This fine stout shows to me that our Vermont friends can do stouts as well as their beloved IPAs.

Look guys, I'm doing my part to take this thing to 11. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO
    [IMG]
@ovaltine, didn't I send you one of these? Where is it? Do you still have a mystery beer lurking around in there somewhere, or did I miss it?

This is Walls of the Cave, a "Tiny Town Series" beer from Georgetown, an English barleywine weighing in at only 14.6%. I'm a sucker for any beverage with a hand-written label.

22oz bottle served in a slightly tulipy wineglass. Label is hand-written on a generic "Tiny Town Series" label.

Pours murky brown with a small head, slow and fine carbonation present and taking its sweet time surfacing. Smell is oak tannins, toffee, dates. Maybe lightly smoked dates.

Taste is sweet toffee and dates, strong presence of oak, something fruity comes out late in the flavor that I can't quite pin down.

Mouthfeel is pretty big, pretty thick, pretty chewy. Overall...it's quite good, but it's not great, though it pains me to say that about one of my favorite local breweries. It feels "inspired by" the Brew x000 series from Fremont. Which is fitting, because I was flitting back and forth between this and a bottle of Brew 8000 before I settled on this.
