The wife and I will be driving thru Montana tomorrow, with an overnight stay in Billings. Any must visit stops while we're there? Mostly thinking of taphouses with a good IPA and/or RIS selection. Thanks in advance for your help and recommendations.
...been years since I last visited Billings (Mrs. BeerGoot grew up there)... ...if it's still around, I thought Ūberbrew had some decent beers...it looks like By All Means Brew Lab gets some very good BA ratings for the location and really decent ratings for its beers...
I can't vouch for the places themselves, but all the beers I've had from By All Means have been pretty good. Uberbrew have been hit/miss.
I'll second Carter's Brewing. I enjoyed it when I was there, I always really enjoyed Red Lodge Ales if you see it on tap (would very much recommend a visit to RL in general, if you have a chance but it is 50 miles or so, out of the way). They should have some decent distribution in the area, but it has been a while since I was there. So maybe things have changed...
Thanks for all the recommendations guys. The wife was tired after the days driving, so we ended up just going to Bar MT and calling it good. They had a pretty decent craft selection, and we both liked the setting. Carter was right near by, but one stop was all we could do. Next time.
...Red Lodge Ales...I miss going to Red Lodge and visiting the brewery (usually when going up the Beartooth Highway to fish the lakes up between Red Lodge and Cook City or coming back down to return to Billings)...still love my Red Lodge t-shirt that I still wear on occasion -- that's been nearly 25 years since I was there last...
