Slept well, so up somewhat early to catch the last hour of the overnight WDCB set. Today's cellar dweller (3/1/23), which after the first few sips is decadent tootsie roll balanced by a still strong hop bitterness.

Yesterday, while going for a quick refill at the supermarket near my home, I picked up this bottle of a typical industrial product, distributed by large-scale retailers, which I had never tasted yet.
I had no claims, so I won't pretend I had any and will try to limit myself to a description:

Birra Raffo (brand of Birra Peroni, made in the factory in Bari, Puglia, ITA) - Unfiltered industrial lager (4.8%)

45 cl bottle (€1.49 at the DOC supermarket).
    On the label: "Lot: L4 007 4 01 - For consumers preferably by: 03/2025".
    May 2024.
45 cl bottle (€1.49 at the supermarket).
It's a brand of the most widely distributed industrial company in Italy (Birra Peroni). In addition to corn, there are unrefined cereals from the Puglia region (barley and durum wheat).
The beer has a hazy straw color and produces less foam than a Classic Peroni Beer.
    Light barley scent.
In the mouth the body is very light, with a fairly mild carbonation.
As with its industrial "sisters", the taste is as neutral as possible, without the slightest excess or distinctive element that could cause a different sensation from a standard product.
In particular, this one has a clearer cereal aftertaste than a version without the words "UNFILTERED" on the label.
Classic semi-deceptive message for those who do not have the desire or experience to turn the label and understand that what they are buying is not a "new beer", but always yet another industrial proposal whose sole purpose is to come match the taste of the mass consumer as much as possible.
In reality, as soon as the beer warms up a little in the glass, that slight hint of cereal grit tends to resemble sawdust.
If it must be drunk, let it be frozen.
Perfect example of an industrial product: standard and soulless.

Oldie(?) but goodie. Whew I love this beer. I get an intense craving for this like once a year... Had a strange day a few weeks back. After hearing this song, took an impromptu ride up the road to visit a spot tied to a little family history. It was also an excuse to check out a quirky Schnitzelhaus which I might just go back to this weekend. Cheers to y'all. [IMG]

A quiet day. Taking the big dog in for a nail clipping, not one of his favorite activities.

Tell me about it, I still got a long scar on my arm thanks to my goofus father then forcing the cat to take a bath or clip its nails, an activity I was also supposed to learn…

Beer time. Just replaced the tires and rims on our utility trailer. They were old and the lug nuts were a pain to loosen. The half hour job turned into a two hour job.

Unfiltered DBA from Firestone Walker. I'd love to do a side-by-side with the 'regular' version.
