I think this @DIM guy should come to Sheboygan, Wisconsin on 7/20/2024. There could be a big barleywine/bock drinking showdown. Plus plenty extra for each to take back home.

    Next up is DAB Maibock.

Light breadiness with a bit of a peppery-alcohol bite. Wouldn't be my first choice for a Maibock, but a good deal at 7 bucks a 4-pack.

Hat-tip to @steveh for letting me know this was available.

I'm a lightweight too. I will admit I'm all but washed up. My big drinking days are over. I just went 5 days with out any, but I will drink some this weekend.

Do you mean Heidrun? This is not her. This goat is a local New England goat.

That’s all well and good, but the mead would push it over the top you have to admit.

When we fall in battle, the mead will flow endlessly. I can wait for destiny to unfold.

Two more Maibocks in comparison (actually called a Helles Bock and a Pale Bock) from Bohemian Brewing (Midvale UT, suburban SLC) and Sierra Nevada Brewing respectively. The Helles Bock is 7.2% abv (6.9% abv on BA and rated at 3.85) and the Pale Bock is 6.8% abv (3.88 BA rating).

With an aggressive pour on both, the SN beer ended up with a greater head, but dissipated to a little more than a ring around the edge. The Bohemian head also ended up as just a ring around the top edge. The SN beer had a bit of a 'canned' aroma, but the Bohemian had a nice malty smell. Taste-wise, SN was a bit hoppy, although it became balanced as it warmed. The helles bock was malty, although not sweet. I liked both but I prefer a malty taste in this style, so a rating of 4.1 for the Bohemian Helles Bock vs. 3.94 for the SN Pale Bock.
