Seems like @snaotheus got all of us, that’s 4 (?) beers total from him in this thread already and I plan to add at least one more this weekend.

Seekers After Light from Floodland. Received this beer from @kemoarps in BIF #16 back in 2022. I'm very excited to try this special beer! It's a blend of mixed culture saison fermented and aged in oak and refermented on chardonnay grape pomace and organic apricots and apriums. Finally, it was refermented to condition in the bottle with raw Washington honey! Comes in at 6.82% ABV

Poured at fridge temp. Pours an opaque yellow with minimal head. The nose is incredible and complex. Honey comes across right away. Chardonnay, apricots, mint, a slight salty note, and peaches. There is something there that I can't quite put a finger on, but maybe I'll figure it out after I get to the taste.

The taste is intense! A massive sourness hits first. Dry and funky, this is quite the beer. Wheat, grapefruit peel, an interesting pepper spice, and almost a hint of seawater. Honey and apricot come through here as well. Plums and a bit of oak emerge with more dominance as it warms. Just a lovely beer.

The mouthfeel is light and dry. It has a long finish that is mostly dominated by apricots and peaches.

Pours a soft yellow color, pale and cloudy; thick and frothy head, white and densely spongy; nice rings of foam line the glass interior. Mild banana and clove aroma; yeasty. Delicately sweet flavor; banana; a somewhat metallic bitterness; pine resin; struggling tropical fruit notes. Medium body yet feels watery; smooth.

This is a collaboration between two Colorado Springs breweries - Cerberus and Fossil Beer Co. I've never been a big fan of the New Zealand hops used in most beers, and this beer hasn't changed my mind. The hop aromas are great, but what they add to the taste, I find rather sharp and harsh. Surprisingly, after a few sips, the taste becomes almost bland. I can't explain that, but it is how I perceive things. Anyway, a beautiful looking and smelling beer, questionable on the taste and mouthfeel factors.

    Good evening NBW
To answer @Beersnake's opening question, I tend to go lighter in the summer, with the exception of Guinness Extra and FES which I find great in any weather. Today's purchase is a light beer I wanted to try, but don't love. I predict they'll be more palatable guzzled from the can during lawn duties.

12oz slim can BBD OCT-2024 poured into a shaker pint glass at fridge temp 4% ABV 95 calories 3.2g carbs. The beer pours very bright, very light amber with nearly white head. Head is a pencil thin ring and tiny island 5 minutes after the pour. The aroma is mild with very slight orchard fruit. The taste is semisweet with more fruity aspects than malt and more tang than bitterness. Noticeable diacetyl. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a slightly wet, yet watery finish. Overall, drinkable, but doesn't deliver a true light beer experience with the funky taste and lack of dryness.

    Cheers all!

BBT (Rye 2023) from Side Project. A blend of barrel-aged imperial stouts (O.W.K., Derivation Blend #3 and Vibes recipes) aged 14-57 months in Willett 5-year rye barrels, Willett 4-year rye barrels and Still630 4-year rye barrels. Comes in at 15% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a VERY thick black with zero head. The nose is insane. Dark malts, dark chocolate, fudge, tons of rye, molasses/brown sugar, dark coffee, and a bit of tobacco. Wow - super intense but not boozy on the nose. This is one I could just sit and smell for an hour.

The taste is equally intense. Black licorice really pops here. Rye barrel, chocolate, molasses, oak, roasted malts, lots of vanilla here, and burnt toffee. Holy crap this is good.

The mouthfeel is crazy. Super thick and creamy with a burnt toffee aftertaste. Lovely beer overall.

Packaged on May 3rd, enjoyed on June 8th, 2024 - poured from a 12oz can into my Hoegaarden tumbler.

Cloudy naples yellow body with a layer of ivory cream up top. Fine sandy lacing; good retention.

Delicate aroma with wheat, barley, and hints of orange and spice (coriander?).

Bright, direct, not-quite-tart palate entry with a nice mix of citrus and clean malt. Low bitterness, fairly neutral yeast. Medium-dry finish with a lingering orange/lemon element.

    Pillowy, soft, medium-bodied, yet quenching.

While never bland, this is a fairly one-note example of the style. Refreshing and enjoyable none-the-less, especially on a hot day.

I am sipping this tasty Quadruple Dry NEDIPA from Kettlehead Brewing and Modestman Brewing an amazing collaboration.

Poured into a 16 oz nordic glass canned on 6/03/24. Pours a very attractive milky hazy yellow with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma is passionfruit, papaya, tangerine, mango, and apricot. 4.75

Taste follows massive tropical papaya, passionfruit, mango, tangerine, and apricot very well balanced. 4.75

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle almost creamy carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8.5% it a good chunk of flavor, with insane drinkability. 5

Overall this one was a home run. As good as any I have had from both breweries. I really hope this one doesn’t retire. 4.75

    Happy Birthday Tonewood…

As you all know I preach the Tonewood gospel quite a lot here, I’ve also played the role of missionary for them and sent many of you their beers. Today they celebrated 8 years; I wanted to go celebrate with a beer there today but it didn’t work out. I may give myself that birthday present tomorrow we shall see…for now I celebrate with this one.

Their latest can conditioned English beer, a new one, collaboration with Carbon Copy over in Philly. I love the stained glass labels they use for their English beers, this one is beautiful.

    Tonewood - Bellmore Bitter (5%)

This beer has a beautiful color to it; it’s a mix of copper and brass, like it’s shining; cloudy but see through; big white head at first, solid thick cap retains very well, attempts to lace with some success here and there.

A bright vibrant nose; hops; earthy in character with a orangey note; malt is both bread and light toast.

Taste is along the same lines; however there is also a noticeable pine presence to go with it.

Body is light leaning towards medium but it’s highly drinkable; perfect light and soft carbonation; smooth creamy microbubbles coat the tongue; sticky and moderately bitter finish.

This is a really perfect beer for me personally; it’s a beautifully balanced but definitely hoppy English beer. I will buy another four pack without a doubt.

    —————————

Have a great evening everyone, enjoy whatever new or not new beer is in your hand tonight.

    Samuel Smith organic strawberry
    ...cloudy amber/ruby appearance
...medium bodied with about the same for carbonation which all added up to a nice feel.
....aroma is malt, toasted grain, cereal with a healthy dose of really well made strawberry preserves.
...taste is definitely sweet borderline sugary yet there's a bit of sour tartness to keep it from getting out of hand.
...overall not to simplify it comes off like a really good beer with a dose of homemade strawberry preserves[IMG]

    Double Bastard

12oz can PKG 04/29/24 poured into an Old Guardian glass at fridge temp 10.5% ABV. The beer pours bright in a dark amber color with chestnut highlights and khaki colored head. The head recedes to a rocky, uneven ring and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength featuring caramel malt right up front with pine and citrus notes. The taste is bittersweet caramel malt with notes of rye and pine. Strong bitterness. The feel is medium bodied with just less that average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, excellent.

I really don't understand why you can't even occasionally buy a beer like this anymore. Thanks to Stone for listening.

Into the Maelstrom from Bottle Logic. Imperial stout brewed with lactose, aged in bourbon barrels, then finished with marshmallows, cacao nibs, walnuts, and almonds. Comes in at 12.7% ABV

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very thick black with a tiny layer of brown head. The nose is dominated by Nutella, which is amazing. Almonds, vanilla, and chocolate. The Nutella note absolutely dominates though.

The taste follows the nose. Thick and creamy Nutella with vanilla, almonds, slight bourbon, and lactose.

The mouthfeel is super thick and creamy, with marshmallow and chocolate on the aftertaste. Lovely beer overall.

Well all, I had one tonight but my phone camera somehow didn’t take the photo. So no graphics for you. Or me apparently.
This was one I picked up from the brewery, I think during Junie Day last year. (It had salted caramel in it) The title is “Hello Barkness My Old Friend” and is an adjunct laden BA stout from Transient.
Pour was like used motor oil, light viscosity and a daaark brown head that dissipated almost immediately.
The taste is distinctly Transient, which I am familiar with but not a big fan of when it comes to salt in my beer. Still, it is deftly used so wasn’t a problem. The peanut butter flavor was though, as it wasn’t one of the additives in the beer; salted caramel, cocoa nibs, vanilla, maple syrup and Tug Boat Coffee. Usually the maple syrup flavor dominates but not in this case.
One of the many things I appreciate about Transient is that their “pastry” stouts are not cloyingly sweet, and this holds true here. Just not sure how I’m getting peanut butter out of those additives.
The feel is nicely viscous, at 15% ABV you want to sip it.
Transient makes some very good stouts and this is likely one of them, but I’m done with the salted caramel I think.
    Cheers all!
