Having my last can of Old Peculiar. I bought a four pack this past winter and never got around to this final one. I do enjoy this beer a great deal. Guess I just got sidetracked.

A Steam Beer Homebrew (Bottled 10/21/23). It's no Anchor Steam, but still drinks very nicely and turned out better than I expected.

#2 and another iconic beer, this is still drinking magnificently after 4 years - and this is my last bottle, which makes me sad, because this is world class stuff, IMHO.

My first experience with this style. I really enjoy it, sorta like a hoppier Märzen.

Well it's been a hell of a couple days. The Mrs is asleep right now. Basically been asleep all day. Stiff neck and nausea, off balance. We are going to Ear, nose and throat specialist tomorrow and another specialist Thursday. I'm happy it isn't neurological- nothing on the cats can. She already has drop-foot and a herniated disc like me so it's good news. I'm going to have to drive her around for a bit. But in a way we feel lucky. I'm not convinced on the diagnosis yet though. 1) Stone Ruination (8.2% canned 1/17/24): An Imperial WCIPA from California with flavors of bitter grapefruit and resinous pine. A sweet, but bitter finish.
    versus
    2) Venn Brewing Chronicopia (8.2% canned 3/24/24): A WCIPA from Minnesota with Eureka, Mosaic, and Columbus for flavors of dank lemon, grapefruit, herbs, and pine. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Stone Ruination:
Mixing it up today with a West Coast IPA Battle. First is Stone Ruination. Quickly has become possibly my favorite west-coast IPA and this is the last of the year's batch. Hop flavors are fading a bit, but still that intensely strong bittering note.
Next is Venn Chronicopia. Fantastic West-coast hop flavors of lemon upfront. Some dank herbs in the middle that fade into a bitter pine on the finish. Not quite as bitter as Stone, but the flavors are excellent here. Sometimes WCIPAs have that intensely herbs and onion character that overpowers the beer. This has a bit of herbal notes, but also many of the other citrus and pine notes that I enjoy in a WCIPA. I picked this up a second time for a reason, it's quite good.
Not sure when the next Stone Ruination pack comes out but I sure hope I get some distribution and don't have to wait until next Winter.

3 Blondes Brewing This May Contain Nuts. It’s a porter with peanut butter and chocolate. I didn’t seek this brewery out for the beer, but this is interesting.

    Hello Advocates
We live fairly close to the Cape Cod Melody tent and Bonnie Raitt is playing tonight. We could hear her sound check earlier.
Ironically we are going to Boston Saturday night to see her. The Cape show was announced well after we bought our tickets and it sold out in a day. Cheers
She is one of the better slide guitar players and I think it gets overlooked.
