Drank Derivation Grand Cru on Saturday. Cold it had an oddly medicinal taste to it, after it sat for about 30 minutes to an hour it opened up a bit and the medicinal taste was very faint. Still wasn’t great though. Think it would have been good if they hadn’t finished it in the Amburana barrels.

I think that’s the amburana barrels because I a potpourri flavor from this and other amburana ba beers I’ve had. To some it’s cinnamon tho, not for me :/

Yes! I was hoping for the cinnamon taste, but unfortunately not the case. Guess I’ll avoid Amburana barrel aged beer in the future!

I don't know; I've had good experiences with Amburana BA beers before, and I still wasn't a fan of Grand Cru (although I'm going to give the bottle another chance).

amburana aside, i got zero vanilla. which is an insane statement for a SP beer with vanilla in it. usually i would be complaining that there is too much vanilla in it.

cooler it tasted like cinnamon and booze. warmer it tasted like band aids. very weird blend. my takeaway: idk if amburana = ‘grand cru’

that has been my issue with SP stouts lately to an extent. I feel like all the adjuncts are on the lighter side, where as I'd prefer and in your face amount of adjuncts. I could be in the minority tho.

I'd guess Boon with the "marriage" reference in the email and them also having a black label version

Took my first pilgrimage to Tree House today on Cape Cod. This place is bananas. It's 78° with an ocean breeze. Lobster Rolls the size of my very large face, and bonus: our 11yo wants to be literally anywhere else than here right now.

If Side Project ever had a coastal location that poured Lime Content Moderator and OdB, I'd never leave.

I am in the Boston area pretty often for work. I hit up the Tewksbury Tree House location when I'm here and it's a pretty cool beer hall. In terms of northeast coastal areas, Portsmouth, NH and Newport, RI are pretty cool areas to visit as well.

For sure. I'm originally from the North Shore of MA, but had long since moved away when the Tree House and Trilliums of the world started opening up. Making sure we tick a few boxes when I come back home is my reward for surviving my family.

Never not going to a Tree House if anywhere near Mass. Providing unmatched customer experiences while maintaining high quality with such huge production is insane.

I'll be @ Tewksbury next wedneday on the way to Hill Farm to grab DH Ann. Very much looking forward to a pour or two and some pizza.

There was also a picture posted of what looked like a 375ml bottle. It had a black label and the words For Alan with Hair of the Dog Brewery tagged in the photo. So maybe something else coming soon too?

Would be cool if they attempted to replicate Dave using Langst
