    Good morning Advocates,
It's late morning here and after finishing the first job of today, a little break to talk about beer seems right.
Unfortunately, the range of medium-sized artisanal products, the ones that you can find almost everywhere here in my area, usually with the standard price of €5, is going through (in my opinion) a moment of tiredness which has "stranded" the search for quality and distinction, in favor of the standardization of the product in order to meet the tastes of every drinker as much as possible and fill the fridges with products that are practically impossible to distinguish from each other.

Stigbergets (Göteborg, SVE) - WEST COAST - India Pale Ale (6,5%).

Drank many times, even when it was bottled.
It's a West Coast style IPA with a percentage of oats and dry hopping of American Citra and Mosaic hops.
Freshly uncorked, light aromas of tropical fruit (especially pineapple) and citrus notes.
By pouring it (in three steps) the aromas expand.
It has a golden blonde appearance, slightly sheer as usual but without exaggerating.
The foam is visibly normal and appears soft and has a mild consistency.
In the mouth one finds a product of certainly high quality, but quite in line with the myriad of offers of similar products: medium body, light background carbonation, fruity flavors that initially range from exotic fruit (pineapple, mango) to summer fruit (white peach). , plums) then come the slightly more bitter notes of citrus peel and grapefruit with also a light herbaceous balsamic reflection.
The finish is quite "velvety" and reveals a non-persistent bitterness, which dries out the beer, leaving ephemeral citrus and vaguely herbaceous notes on the tongue, but without offering a further inspiration.
A brief citrus aftertaste on the palate which however disappears almost without realizing it.
I'm convinced that this way of "containing" the final bitterness is due to the fact that in a market saturated with practically identical products, many producers try to make products that "don't leave you thinking", in the sense that the objective is to meet the tastes of the majority in order to be able to distribute their artisanal product perhaps at a lower price than that of many competitors and obtain a small space in a crowded market.
It's clear that the more characterized a product is, the more it gets talked about, the more it gathers favorable and contrary opinions.
I believe that many today prefer to avoid all this and try to offer a standard artisan product that goes almost unnoticed, but which can guarantee the widest possible response to be able to offer it at an increasingly competitive price.
    This is my personal opinion.
Having said that, the beer is discreet, not unforgettable, but you can perceive that standard craftsmanship that is filling the fridges of many pubs which have an offer limited to standard artisanal products, not excellent ones.

Hello! Right on to mention about almost lunch in these parts and time to crack open Chimay and pairing it with a cheese from Clermont-Ferrand in the Massif Central area of France.

Thanks Jack for the thoughtful post. I agree about the sometimes lacklustre products, and I agree with your theory about brewers and vendors going ‘safe’. But with a microbrewery for nearly every town and even neighbourhood these days, I think there’s also just a lot of pretty mediocre brewing.
That sounds mean. These people do a great job- better than I could -but not everyone can stand out.

Im drinking one of these right now from Perth Brewery. On one hand, Im glad I can support a local business and drink something made just down the road. On the other hand, it doesn’t offer much of an experience. (Im sure I didn’t pick their best offering either)

Everyone is down for the night. My post dinner nap didn't last all night. Fun fact: All the hotel room safes I've encountered over here all have low battery indicators

Good to know and glad it made your morning better…

I have largely enjoyed you sharing what you were drinking and visiting over in Cambodia only sad there were no photos to back this up. Not a criticize, but it’s a gorgeous country too that need pictures for us mortals that may never made it there. Cheers!

    G'day all!

Nothing like a fresh, tasty IPA from a top notch(no) local brewery like Mountain Hops. Cascade and Mosaic hops involved.

    Prost!

Watered the lawn for the first time this season after plenty of rain until the Heat Dome arrived. Too hot to go shopping now, so eating the last of the food at home paired with this banger.
