Truthfully, I've tipped the bartender and or waiter or waitress very well many times.
But no, have never bought a round for the entire bar. Much as it'd be a nice feeling, I probably would faint from sticker shock when I got the bill.

I received a beer from someone who bought the round two weeks ago. There were 8 or so people at the bar. He just won $250 on the lottery that goes off every 4 or 5 minutes on the lottery TV.

I am, a sucker, for buying a random couple their first/second round if I am leaving a bar. I do not know what compels me. I see a happy couple enjoying themselves before I leave, I want to send over something. This doesn’t happen to all but still.

I have the bartender send what they have had previously and send another if so.
I do not consider cost or economy of my own situation. I chose to do so, so be it ! I do not pick and choose.

I just enjoy others happiness before my own.

Not the entire bar, but several people sitting at the bar!

Last time I got a drink was from a lady at BJ's Brewhouse on Veteran's Day. Years ago. Capt. Mike buys my drinks all the time. He comes over and drinks my beer and whiskey. We are gonna entertain a trip to Dayton for the USAF Museum.

I think that the decline of social clubs with defined memberships is likely driving this number down. I have bought rounds for the bar many times, but it's almost always at one of the social clubs where I have membership.

I think the reasons for this are: 1) the drinks are relatively cheap, 2) the bar is often smaller than a commercial establishment, 3) the buyer has a connection to everyone (or almost everyone) at the bar.

I am a member of four clubs and I buy a round for the bar at each club every year when I renew my membership. I also buy a round if I win a 50-50 or cash-in on some other small game of chance available at such establishments.

I think I bought a bartender a shot once, but never a full round for the bar, no.

About 15 years ago at a bar in Brugge, a few buddies and I decided to buy a round of drinks for this rather odd bar we had been enjoying for some time. Being the nice people we were, we ordered shots of campari for everyone, because. The responses ranged from disbelief to suspicion to concern to intrigue. Those intrigued were spoken to and we had a nice rest of the night. I think.
