The previous Loams were all released at $25. Don't know anything about the price this time but that has been a lower priced series for them

I know we have discussed pricing in various forms ad nauseam at this point, but to spend $25 to $40 on a beer, you have to REALLY like it, there has to be comparably few substitutes (that you have access to), and nothing you’d rather spend that money on (let’s just keep it in the same category - alcohol). My tastes have changed with COVID, so sours are much less my jam than they were previously, but even before: $25 is a price that I can accept. I can stomach a $12, 12-oz serving regularly, after all that is pretty on par for my preferred styles of stout/BWs. But, when you creep above that, I’d just rather spend that on whiskey or wine. For $25 bucks I can get a far superior (quality) wine than I can that sour, and often than the stout. Just, on average I prefer the stout over wine. But, if my stout preferences are already satiated, yea, I’m going wine over sour.

Loam #1 was very good. Loam 2 was too acidic for me, but again, changes since COVID.

It was available right before the sale started.

That is ridiculously generous. $40 for a 16-dollar 4-pack. Hopefully someone helps meet you in the middle.

I'm happy to take your CV, but it's available at the patio for same-day pickup. Let me know if you need a proxy.

    Was Maplewoods best available
At the brewery/cellar/patio before today? Or was today the release of it?

It has been on draft at all 3 locations for like a few months now (with maybe a little time off between kegs in there) but i believe today is the official release day of the cans.

Ok. So cans should be available on site. Might try my case plus LC discount Sunday for some river beers.

CV looks like a beer no one wants to buy but everyone wants to trade for.

Placed two orders a couple hours apart today and there ate only about 150 others placed between them.

I suspect no one wants to buy Punchdown Chambourcin. I'd very much like to buy a CV. Just not $60+tax to include a beer I very much don't care for.

I've had several people tell me they simply won't buy it because of the package.

For some reason this didn't get offered to LC out of the package (not even 1, not saying unlimited).

We all know they need packages, but that people aren't biting as much. I've said it before, but I don't understand why they don't "ease" off the packages. If they did a package like 2 Cocovibes and 1 punchdown, I'm sure a lot more people would have bitten. If we flash forward to BBT, they are going to be sitting on those forever if they don't reduce the # of sours/proportionate cost of sour to stout ratio.

CV has a long history of not being offered to LC.

744 packages still available. Death to packages, I hope.

Yea same I’m not the biggest fan of punch downs, but if it were something like fuzzy I’d be down for a few

For sure. Raspe or Fencerow, even better. I'd even be cool with being required to pick one from the current to go menu, but I know that'd be a logistical nightmare.

Packages seem to be the very core of their business model.

Currently there are 13 sour/wild/saison for sale in their store. ALL at least $1 an oz.

Sorry. There are world class beers available for a lot less.

But, I’m not in the SP game even though I live a mile away. Priorities. IMO the packages are opportunistic and exploitive.

I want to thank you all for this thread. Don’t go to CVS or Raising Cane’s when I know SP is crazy.

    Check.

They've got to learn some lessons from Jester King and Keeping Together by continuing to tone down their acidity while highlighting unique cultures if they want that to continue to work. It simply doesn't seem like a sustainable model anymore.
