This is very weird, i have had 6 Steeplejack beers now and every one of them has been very good to excellent. Yet i totally ignore them until i see one of their beers on the shelve. Then I buy, enjoy then ignore. Repeat cycle. A very underrated Oregon brewery, there are very few ratings on here. There was talk of them being the new McMenamins because they opened a couple places within a couple of years. I hope this is the case. These guys do lower alcohol styles spot on!
Very underrated, probably because they make a lot of low alcohol beer and English styles. One of my favorite OR breweries
Have not tried anything from them in a while. When they first hit the scene I tried several of their offerings with mixed results. Because I felt quality was inconsistent I stopped ordering their beer Sounds like it might be time to revisit?
This was my experience too. I will try their beers again. Their Hillsboro taproom is less than a half hour away from Vurt Manor by bicycle.
This was my impression, their original taproom is in a converted church which makes it a fun place to drink. Their first six months I found their beer, cocktails, and food to not be worth the visit. Tried a few things during Portland beer week and was impressed. I will definitely revisit the church on Broadway next time I'm in the area!
I believe the Brewer they started with (Anna Buxton, formerly of Modern Times) remains, maybe it just took a bit to dial in the brewhouse/recipes?
lol whoops. i was working at MT the whole time she worked there but never met her and frankly forgot she even worked there. i suppose i was in a different state so i don't feel too bad. i'd say coming from hazies and pastry stouts 24/7 to low abv english styles would take an adjustment period. happy to hear they're doing better!! i do remember annie from de garde was a brewer and left early on, i wonder if they replaced her with someone with more of a UK lean...
