Differential Brewing in ABQ. Beers are all super approachable and the atmosphere attracts a wide variety of great people. Plays some sick music too. I spent my birthday there this year and met like three other people that were celebrating theirs as well

Also gonna be in Portland, OR for a concert in August and would love some recommendations that are relevant to this thread. Horse Brass Pub is first in the list

Read this: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-portland-2024.675684/ , and then ask in the NW forum. They'll steer ya right.

That said, the strip clubs with insane taplists and cheap & good steaks are worth checking out.

Just remember about the time I met an old Polack Yinzer while I was on vacation in WV several years ago. This dude would wash himself in the river that the cabins were located along every morning (bar of soap and wash cloth type washing), still had an outhouse for his cabin, type old school guy. Looked like the mob boss from Reservoir Dogs.
We struck up a conversation and discovered our Pittsburgh connection. Turns out, it was his church growing up, and he was glad that it was preserved after the diocese sold it off, even though it was in a different form that what he grew up with. Also glad that pierogis were always on the menu, and that we did some not so traditional ones.
He also told me that he and his friends would swim in the Allegheny growing up. Folks back then were a tougher breed.

Nope. The guy who owns one of the clubs also owns a huge cattle ranch. I don't kno what they cost now, but, you used to be able to get a 16oz T-Bone, of quality beef, for $10. Things are different out here.

20+ years ago I applied to a kitchen supervisor position that didn't list the name of the establishment, just the address. Ended up being a strip club. Was actually one of the cleaner kitchens of a non-fine dining place I've been in. Still didn't take the job. I was young, horny, and had a drug habit back then, and knew it would be bad news.

Portland has several strip clubs famous for the quality of their food. There was (at least used to be) a vegan one that was widely considered one of the best vegan kitchens around. And the one owned by the cattle rancher with the famous steaks is a staple.

Sassy's (in Portland) is a legit destination for both food and beer. It doesn't necessarily look like it would be, but that's Portland for you. In most cities you'll find solid to good food at higher-end "gentleman's clubs" but your beer selections are probably all going to end in the word light.

The shooting star in Huntsville Utah claims to be the oldest continually run saloon west of the Mississippi. Wood paneled dive bar with dollar bills taped to the ceiling . The bartender told me that they are insured for $18000 and the fire Marshall prohibits anymore additions . I sat in the “ dog booth” under the stuffed remains of “Buck” , once the world’s largest St. Bernard . had a Henry weinhard root beer with my star burger ..two patties, onion, tomato, cheese, pickles and knackwurst …excellent !

“we don’t want anything , just want to look around “

the bartender/ waitress gives a brief tour and some facts… when they get to my table they are told that the taxidermist used a bear form to mount the fig

    “ that’s a DOG!! “
