Stone was getting shit on non stop for the past 5 years or so on here.
Nice to see people actually upset that they CAN'T get their beers for once.

I "liked" your post not because Stone's been getting crapped on here, but because I can't get much of their stuff here in Indiana beyond OLD bottles of IPA, Delicious, old Fear Movie Lions, and the odd one off IPA like Enjoy By. When we lived in Minnesota (through March of 2017), I could get Sublime, Old Guardian, Arrogant, etc etc etc. When I saw Double Bastard at my "great" beer store, I think I yelped for joy.

    It's a double edged sword.

I'm amazed that even with the high number of breweries popping up and making similar beers that nostalgia for the glory days of beer remains priceless .

I do hope everyone gets a chance at trying this release along with Old Guardian and Imperial Stout in Nov

I will absolutely get some Imperial Stout.
Additionally, I'm going to choose to believe that this comment implies that Old Guardian will see distribution, and go ahead and get excited about that!

The only releases that don't see distribution are the ONE BATCH DISPATCH series and in this case Old Guardian isn't one of those so be excited.

Really nice to see that this released and had nothing to do with the Fan Favorites series which requires votes on their website. Maybe Smoked Porter is next :sunglasses:

I think a lot of the grievances surrounding Stone (at least for me) is that they've trended heavily toward the fruited IPAs, which are generally, of no interest to me. Can't necessarily fault them for it. They've got to brew what the market dictates and what sells. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T COMPLAIN ABOUT IT!

I love the return to all the beers that "made" them. SSR, Ruination, Imperial Stout, etc. Fantastic beers!

I'm VERY excited. Would also be thrilled for Smoked Porter. Another excellent beer!

Smoked Porter was always one of my favorite Stone offerings. Definitely would love to see that hit shelves again!

Still waiting. Their Beer Finder shows the closest outlet is 52 miles away. Tempting, but I think I’ll give it another week or so to arrive locally.

I wouldn’t mind the return of the original pale ale or Levitation. Would make for some nice hoppy session beers.

Las Vegas has the worst beer distribution.

Neither DB nor sublimely black ipa were shipped anywhere within 7 hours of here.

Another reason I can’t wait to move out of here. I need good beer and good affordable golf, LV don’t offer that.

Just tried it, as a friend told me about it. He was curious what I'd think versus Arrogant, he wanted me to do a comparison. I found it at a nearby stored in Maryland and bought the last 4 cans. I didn't need to follow it up with an arrogant, By itself it's wonderful and surprisingly smooth. My beer of choice has been Dead Guy Ale (which relegated Arrogant to second for me) , this feels competitive with that.

In case you're wondering "Should I maybe age a Double Bastard?"...I have an opinion.

I was recently gifted a beer collection from a friend who gave up drinking & is moving. These are OLD beers; the youngest would be like 2019.

In this collection was a 2012 (!) Double Bastard bomber. A friend & I cracked it last night, assuming it would be cardboard-heavy, undrinkable but a fun time capsule.

WRONG. This tasted like a fantastic English barleywine; leather, dark berry & caramel. Also, it was noticeably less dry than a fresh version, but still had a bitterness on the finish. It was almost like a hybrid of English and American barkeywines.

I tried & enjoyed the fresh version that just came out, but my god, I LOVED the decade + version. Keep in mind, I don't age beers at all anymore because I think 99% of beers, regardless of style, are best enjoyed fresh.

    Double Bastard is an exception.

This is the 2nd tour of Stone RIS correct? And Sublimely Self Riteous has been released 2x as well. Ruination once. Have I missed any of the other limited re- releases?
