Saturday morning, with nothing, nada, no impending obligations until this afternoon calls for a beer…

… and a new one! Gallia West coast IPA.

Pretty good one, from a Parisian brewery. Posted a review of it in this weeks NBW if you wanna dive in.

    Cheers!

I just finished two from Ghost Town, out of Oakland. Malevolent, a WCIPA, and Necropolis, a banger of a pilsner. Fantastic caps to a full two weeks.

Full review linked above, New Beer Weekend #206 treatment linked here. Bottom line, the caramel bread flavor is very enjoyable and like the fact that it doesn't present a sweet overload. Milder likely for the mass produced audience, but works well for me today.

I believe I have had this a few times without a formal rating in the past, but more enjoyable than vague memories of long ago.

You probably already know this having visited Greece, but Gallia (Gha-LEE-ah) is how Greeks refer to France (basted in the Gaul name of old). I wonder the meaning of this beer's name.

Kalimera, yes indeed. Gaulish, Gaelic tongue all have the Greek roots.

Only been to Crete and not mainland Greece but that sure was more than enough to be thrilled by the population, and basically anything else (food, Aegean Sea, etc).

The beer’s name translate to New Western, IDK what they want to convey with that. Beside probably a hint is it’s a WC IPA.

Pours a good golden color with decent white cap.

Aroma of sweet malt and herbal, piney hops.

My first taste impressions are hops with a prominent pine note. Sweet malt follows in a supporting role but hops stay on top. There is a surprising slight woodsy undertaste that's actually pleasant.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

No surprises here, it is an IPA and hops are abundant, yet this one is a bit of a standout and a cut above average.

    G'day all!

I haven't had a Dale's in ages; no dating on the package is probably the reason why. The cans are dated but the numbers are hard to discern. Something Something 24.
Anywho, the beer sure does taste fresh.

    Prost!
