Happy Canada Day BAs! I would like to use this opportunity to propose a toast to our brave kilted yaksmen heroically protecting the Yukon frontier, followed by a moment of silence for the dashed hopes of our brave, fallen Oilers. Taken down in the prime of their lives by a pack of large predatory felines, it was arguably the most brutal mauling of a Canadian since that time Rob Ford was tragically eaten by wolves. Wait, maybe I'm mixing up my Fords?

I raise this glass of Origin of Darkness in their honour - superfluous U and all, because that is clearly the most correct spelling. This Origin of Darkness variant is a collaboration between Bellwoods and Collective Arts, two of Ontario's finest breweries - it's a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with dulce de leche. I don't usually go for really sweet stouts, but this one's a banger.

Now if you'll excuse me, my pot of Kraft Dinner is about to boil over. Cheers, you hosers!

I regret not being able to find Origin of Darkness on my recent trip. Finding imperial stouts in TBS/LCBOs is hard enough. Finding southern-based brewers’ stouts in eastern Ontario… impossible

No Backsies Hefeweizen at Aslin's DC outpost near Logan Circle. Traditional at first, and follows with a bit of a weed-y aftertaste. Seems to be an IPA-centric place, so that may be next. Unfortunately, Churchkey doesn't open until 4:00 today.

 

Happy sunny and cool 1st day of July.....the 4th coming up is probably my least favorite "holiday", as a lot of idiots around here shoot off very loud fireworks for days on end....my dog and i are not fans of excess noise! Ah well, soon it will be August and fall is not far behind that!

New to me brew - from Maize Valley in Hartville OH, close to me.....BOM pils....very nice!

Hello BAs. A lazy & crazy week here for many of us. I'm off the hook with zero musical activities and just stuff to do around the house. I'll start with this beer as it doesn't qualify for the AAL tasting comin' up. Doesn't have lactose but the berry & honey flavorings knock it outa the race (I think) I added this brew to our database and uploaded the can pic. Earth Rider Blueberry Honey Cream Ale. 5% ABV
It is meh overall. They can't all be winners.

I do a 1.5 mile walk thru the neighborhood most mornings, in a short stretch of road I sometimes see empty "airline" bottles. Today somebody dropped one. Seal intact! Hope I'm still here tomorrow!

Oh man. That blueberry honey cream ale I just had borders on being shitty IMO. Fresh, but just 7 shades of wrong. Not a drain pour but the remaining 2 cans are giveaways.
Now! Onto some 3 Sheeps Fresh Coast Juicy Pale Ale. Much better!
