The understatement of the year so far :grimacing:.

@shkin I'm having the hardest time figuring out your profile pic. To me it looks like a rotten banana with eyes that give me an accusing stare, while balacing precariously on a mountaintop. But it's probably something different :stuck_out_tongue:.

I laughed out loud as I read this.

Hopefully we will get this 'mystery' solved.

I was contemplating keeping it a mystery, but... it is a crop from a photo I took of a sculpture by Joan Miró at La Défense in Paris.

Very deep and obscure man, I like it!

And here I thought it was something from a weird Sci-fi movie.

It's certainly weird, possibly sci-fi, and works well as an avatar on social media

We have a Miró here in Chicago (or used to). It was one of my first introductions to abstract art when I was pretty young. Not sure if it made an impression, but I definitely remember the name.

Many Americans are clueless on this. Online they will argue about how it runs like clockwork when they were in Germany in the 1990s.

Yes, it's really annoying how so many people still think the German railway system is great because Germans are so very punctual and efficient, when in truth it has been a complete and utter "train wreck" (hah!) for years.

The first Miró sculpture I saw was Personage somewhere in Westchester, NY, but the one on my avatar was snapped during a very early morning walk on the first day in Paris from the center of the city to La Defense. These sculptures were more impressive than Louvre, Champs-Élysées, and Arc de Triomphe.

Just reading about a new place in Munich called "Stehausschank" from Giesinger. Has anyone been there? The term Stehausschank means basically "standing around drinking" rather than the typical German way of sitting - kind of like an American dive bar.

On a side note, Löwenbräu is copying the format due to the quick success. Location will be called Tscharlie's and will be located on Lindwurmstraße.

Might be heading to Munich in a couple of weeks. Is the original Lowenbrau cans in Munich?

    Yes.

I was there in March 2023, and snapped a quick pic at the Aldi Süd near the Augustiner Keller:

It sucks for the German brewing industry that beer prices are this low. But as a consumer, a 500ml can of fresh hefeweizen sounds glorious right now.

No place here in US has Löwenbräu anymore. But Aldi’s is still good?
