    Good morning.

Alder Beer Co. (Seregno, ITA) - DIESEL BOY - West Coast Pils (5,2%)

On tap at the pub (7€ 50 cl).
West Coast Pils brewed with Pils and Cara malts and a yeast of German origin, but hopped with Citra and Mosaic, as well as with the noble German Mittelfruh.
When poured properly, with the right timing, it releases aromas of cereal grist along with a fruitiness that ranges between citrus and yellow-fleshed fruit.
It has a truly beautiful golden blonde color, practically transparent except for a light haze that helps to brown the splendid blonde color. Foam of the right amount and consistency (dense appearance, soft and tasty to drink).
Probably, blindfolded I would mistake it for a Pale Ale, not so much for the light body and lively carbonation, but for the taste that is characterized by citrus notes (orange peel, citron, grapefruit) and fruity ones (yellow-fleshed and exotic fruit: yellow peach, summer plum, passion fruit, mango).
The cereal notes are present, but definitely in the background to re-emerge on the tongue at the end of the drink: when the fruitiness goes away, here are the notes of cereals and toasted bread that "clean" the tongue leaving very light (but pleasantly perceptible) citrus and summer fruit hints on the palate.
The finish is therefore soft, "cereal", not bitter but still the fruitiness is dried.
Certainly a Pils sui generis, but with a result that I personally appreciated very much: light and thirst-quenching like a Pils, fragrant and tasty like a Pale Ale.
This brewery is a safe reference for all high hopped fermentations, while on some low fermentations (in a more traditional style than this one) I was not so ecstatic, in this case however I must say that the drink is truly pleasant and the final result very appreciable.
From what is reflected in the final result, I believe that this beer wants to represent a sort of bridge between two very different beer styles and honestly I found a very well-balanced integration of the different elements of these.
Very fresh, thirst-quenching and tasty, I personally appreciated it very much, understanding that it's a modern product, but with a criterion.

    PS.
I wanted to let the team know that I'm adding it to the database under the EUROPEAN PALE LAGER heading, because as I said, it doesn't seem appropriate to put it under other families of Classic and traditional PILS. If you have a better placement than the one I am pigeonholing it into, make the necessary corrections. I'm not very good at cataloging. The beer explicitly states "WEST COAST PILS".

Hey advocates, currently sipping on La Trappe Quad…

    Prost!

Pearl (2022) would be my movie recommendation of the day. Interesting horror film that watches more like a thriller/drama. I was pleasantly surprised, and it’s certainly bizarre at times. Yet good.

Your description and photo are great, no issues there, but I have to ask: When an Italian (or any European country for that matter) brew a "west" or "east" coast beer, is it by default the coasts of the USA? Or Europe? *Seems* USA, and that just perplexes me.

Did a small hike this morning and just got back from the lake. Only bought cans of beer so it's time for a Bud. Cheers

Beautiful, scenic photos here @belvedere86 thanks for sharing.

Vacay, holidays will have to wait a bit for me (and many others here at the Virtual Bar) but we are vicariously living the life, virtually for now. Cheers.

On a typically gray Connecticut day, it seems appropriate to crack open a Connecticut beer.

Hopefully you've seen "X," which precedes Pearl. Just saw MaXXXine, the third in the trilogy, which is fun but my least favorite of the three.

Actually havent but I’ll try to find them both. If I’m being honest I didn’t even know this was a trilogy/saga. Thanks.

This is the statue we did a small but hard hike to. Reminds me of the Jesus statue in Rio. This is "Our Lady of Peace" 8)

The 1664 is better than the Bud btw.

Oh hey there then so how's it goin'? Already feels like a weekend! I can hang at the VB somewhat today and then my krayzee travels begin for a couple of weeks. Roughly 2.230 miles is what I gauge. Maybe more. Just me driving. But today is lawn chop day, it's beautiful outdoors, and I passed the audition last night on guitar for a hilarious punk band and fuckin' rocked. I need a good beer. Aass Pilsner. Skål!

It always refers to the American reference style.
This also applies to other European beers.
If the wording "East or West Coast" appears on the label, it means that it is a beer inspired by the American reference style and above all with the use of the relevant hops from the specific area of origin.

Spent the morning pressure cleaning the pool cage and screen, a job I hate but it needs to be done about every 3-4 months. Lunch is meatballs with a 10 Barrell Brewing Blockbuster Sinister Black Ale.

Pig Minds Rocket Road, an added junk laden BA stout, should'a called it Rocky Road, might have poured it on my ice cream. Looks good, great smells, but just too sweet.
