What beer are you drinking now? #4303

Thanks for the tales and pics from the European travel guides @belvedere86 and @MadMadMike! @tekstr1der i was able to acquire a can of Petřín 11° at a beer festival i volunteered at last weekend and look forward to trying it as their brews are always spot on!
Since i have enjoyed lagers the last couple of days i will circle back to my still large backlog of high gravity brews. This one is from Burial, an American BW cuvee acquired about a year ago. Man, this is definitely the best i have had from this fine brewery!

1) Fair State Hex Signs (8.6% canned 6/7/24): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra & Cryopop for flavors of orange flower, blood orange, tangerine, fruit punch, stone fruit. Dry and clean.
versus
2) Drekker King of The Thing (8.3% canned 6/27/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra hops for flavors of orange citrus, tropical citrus, some sweet peach. Juicy, soft, and smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Drekker King Of The Thing
Fair State vs Drekker IPA Battle. First is Fair State Hex Signs. A Citra and Cryopop, which I am less familiar with. Nice blood orange, fruit punch, stonefruit flavors. Fairly clean and drier than expected for the big ABV.
Next is Drekker King Of The Thing. All Citra hops. More pineapple, orange, mango. Denser and the flavors pop more here. This is one of Drekker's best IPAs. I'd pick this as a flagship over Ectogasm.

"Fix" is the closest Greek pronunciation of the German last name "Fuchs", which was the name of the Bavarian guy who established this brewery back in the days (1800s) when Greece was ruled by a Bavarian King. The company went into hibernation sometime in the 70s/80s, only to be resurrected in the 2000s.

 

Big storm blew thru, 1.5 inches of rain in 20 minutes. Power glitched 3 times so the WiFi is down, post image won't connect and Imgur says it's over it's limit. I do think however most will believe me when I say I'm enjoying a Jai Alai right now.

Prior to a year or two ago, there’s no way there’d be such a dearth of hoppy pale offerings. Then again, the beer cooler is a little empty altogether.

New Oberpfaltz Oktoberfest. My local go-to for the style. Yes, I know It's National IPA Day, but I do love me an Oktoberfest. Don't worry, I'll be back with some hops soon enough!

 

After the obligatory IPA, my thirst for a dark beer beckons. I may switch back, we'll see.

Lagunitas IPA an old fashion IPA lost in the flood of new IPA's
still a nice refreshing brew on a hot and humid afternoon.

 

Saint Arnold H-Town Pils in the glass.

Its going to be a Pat Metheny day. Rejoicing with Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins.

 

This is so good.

 

Summit Twin Pils (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota that has flavors of pale malts, fruity yeast, and smooth bread notes. Complex, soft, and clean.

I'm actually not sure what this beer style is anymore. Previously listed as their Keller Pils. Still great flavors. A complex yeast flavor like a Kolsch. Clean like a German Pils, but soft like a Kellerbier. It's one of my favorites every summer. I wish they would bring back their Dakota Soul, Czech Lager. That was a banger as well.

 

Gnosis Ticking Away 2nd Anniversary IPA (HBC 1019, Simcoe, Citra). As promised, I'm back with some hops for National IPA Day and it's a tasty one at that. Orange sherbet, ripe cara cara orange, some passionfruit, yellow grapefruit, ripe mango, rose water, slight lime, spruce. Gnosis has really dialed in their IPA's.
