From the inimitable @HIGHPA a Transient Familial Blend 2. Unfortunately, I think this might be infected. While I have not had many / any buckwheat stouts, this is decidedly red wine vinegar with none of the adjuncts perceptible. I’ll give it a few more minutes to warm up, but I think it will be visiting the sink.

Next up is Blue Monk Special Reserve from De Struise. This is a 2013 vintage, bottled in 2016. A dark strong ale from Belgium. Notes in the cellar thread. Cheers!

Stopped by BevMo to see if I could win the Oktoberfest lottery. No dice. The only style of beer in the cooler that looked interesting is this. It's a style of beer I rarely find. This example is surprisingly roasty yet works well even on this warm summer afternoon.

We get limited Veil distro up here. I keep looking for Master Shredder but haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping to drink one with you virtually some day!

Adrien Brouwer oaked from a recent birthday gift from the missus. I had no idea what to expect. I should have used my chalice, but… This is very tasty! The head is quite frenetic on pour, but once you get past that, it’s aces. Has Belgian funk all over the nose, with some slight caramel tones. First sips are a “dirty” Belgian yeasty twang, followed by an interestingly complex tannic malt body. Very crisp, yet carries a heft to it. At 10%, this drinks much too easily. An intriguing beer, perhaps one I would revisit in autumn months (if I had regular access, which I don’t). What a total surprise.
