80's regular Michelob, in the bowling pin shaped bottles. Weekends were made for Michelob!

I think of this context when I see stories about the "beloved" or "adored" diner, restaurant, brewery closing and one of the reasons cited is low patronage. How beloved or adored could it have been if they lacked customers?

To me, part of the broader context is something you assume will always be there and that admittedly blurs the line with things being missed. Mystic Brewery and Pretty Things come to mind - we bought our share of their beers, inconsistently, and both are long gone. It'd be truly arrogant to think our meager purchases could have kept them open but every bottle sold counts to some extent. How many times we drove past Mystic and after the fact said dang why didn't we stop in ( before the ill-advised move that was the beginning of the end).

Local brewer Berkley Beer Company - we drive right by about eight times a week. Finally stopped and its a great pub. Excellent food, decent beer, clean, great staff. Have we been back? Nope - literally five miles from the front door. Oh...they are always packed...

Yes agree thanks for reminding me about them I’ve had a few beers from Abolisionist and they are well crafted beers. In Charlestown,WV only 10-15 min. From Harpers Ferry.

Still available beer: Founder's Breakfast Stout - probably the best all around stout I've had. It really hits all the notes. Need to stock up on it and keep a couple cases in my basement.

No longer available: Lagunitas Sucks - I miss it so much

Late to this thread, but agreed on the old Harvest beers. Finding those fresh 24 oz bottles was a highlight of fall for me every year. I used to drive all over looking for them.

I no longer have access to Victory’s HopDevil IPA. I used to purchase this beer by the case. If I do see it at a store it’s usually outdated and old. I guess there’s not enough people interested in HpDevil anymore for Victory to brew and distribute it on a regular basis. Pretty popular beer at one time here on BeerAdvocate

Bear Republic and Allagash Brewing was once distributed to my area at one time. I miss Hop Rod Rye and Allagash Tripel Reserve. Might as well add Founders Red’s Rye IPA to the list as well.

My local Wegman's Supermarket always has HopDevil on the shelf in relatively fresh condition. I still have one bottle left from a six-pack purchase I made a month+ ago.

If you are willing to purchase by the case you could ask your local retailer (e.g., Beer Distributor) to get you one.

    Cheers!

I may have to enquirer about getting a case the next time I go to the beer store. A case of beer lasts me around 3 to 4 months these days. It might be an awkward conversation though “hey I’m interested in buying a case of HopDevil but not the old stock you have on your shelf”. Or I could just go to another store and ask them instead.

    Cheers!

There's prob a bunch I will think about after I post this but quickly -
    SN Ruthless Rye
SA Noble Pils - best pils they ever brewed IMHO
Victory Dirtwolf - never see this anywhere anymore.
Gbot- not in RI and hard to find anywhere.
Southern Tier Farmers Tan in the bomber
    Etc

I tried for a few years to find Liberty Ale by Anchor without success and then the door shut. I miss Racer 5. Such a nice beer when reasonably fresh. I know it's still made, but I no longer see it here. Might be the first imperial IPA I ever tried (1999 or 2000).

Classic West Coast IPAs in general. Thankfully can typically find Torpedo relatively fresh so almost always have that in the fridge.

But beers like Racer 5, Union Jack (unrelated but shit I really miss Wookey Jack), Sculpin, Green Flash Palate Wrecker, all the Stone seasonal releases, etc. were always around fairly fresh. None of this stuff I even see anymore.

    Another is Sierra Nevada Tumbler.

Also the 12 oz. 6-pack of bottles. This said, I don’t miss the 22 oz. bomber format.

Haven’t seen Victory Prima Pils or Lagunitas Pils in a long time. Both were crisp with a good amount of hops.

I know that these breweries/beers were not popular among BAs, but I thoroughly enjoyed, and miss, both of these:

    Weyerbacher - Heresy
    Clown Shoes - Chocolate Sombrero

21st Amendment Hop Crisis. I'd buy a case every time I got the chance, but I never imagined that they'd discontinue it. If I'd have known, I'd have ordered a tractor trailer load.
