    I don't know if waxing in itself stops oxidation, but if there is a leaky cap you will see the wax expand and bubble. A good sign you need to drink the bottle.

    No - there is oxygen in the bottle already causing the oxidative processes. Waxing helps prevent leaky caps (as you mentioned) and it helps prevent rust. And it looks pretty.

    I do the same. I don't have the space for shelving (unless I built them into the closet, but as renters that would be tough anyway). As an added bonus, I figure boxes help keep them out of the light. I just keep up to date on a spreadsheet that tells me which beer is in which box, and it doesn't take more than a few minutes to retrieve any one bottle.

    Nah, it's just for display purposes. I had all of mine in cases (many, many cases) until I bought a dedicated beer fridge and then I moved them all in there. I figure I had just left them all out in the open on the shelves I'd eventually cause a domino effect someday and lose a lot of beer.
