Oh, how much can I type… I was a nerd, a misfit, but I had one absolute dear friend that made the 60s and 70s a time of archetypal, permanent memories, ones that I can feel and put myself into like real time. The “go outside and come home when the streetlights come on” was a real thing. Those days, especially summer break time, were spectacular in that each day moved blissfully slowly. We just did things. Walked. Biked. Hung out by the canal. Walked the paths. Walked the train tracks. Made hideouts. It felt like an eternity in all the best ways. When the 4th heart attack killed my dad at age 59, my friend took me out for a beer and was just…available. Even though we’re in different places and have drifted apart, any time we might need the other, there is no question that we would be there in a heart beat.

The 80s were a real storm of young adult energy. I’m a drummer by activity, always whacking something, so the music scene was for me. So many varieties. From punk nights at Mr Shab’s pizza joint, to The Continental on Franklin, to the pop bands of my cousin’s boyfriend playing the lounge scene, to the ever-changing genres…it was a cornucopia of…acceptance. Music brought people together. If you were there at a club or a gig, you were one of the group, no holds barred. I’ve probably forgotten more than I remember, but it was exciting, new, creative. I’m not sure people have that experience or frame of reference any more. I get the sense that people try to find that natural, authentic kind of spark now, but it’s not the same. It’s more contrived? IDK. I can only offer my own authentic self to each day I get above ground, trying to bring something good. Doesn’t always work of course, but I try.

 

Intriguing. Now I MUST see it. I’m not a Wolverine fan, but Deadpool movies speak to me.

Speaking of bear temper, I'm visiting my brother in 2 weeks and that liquor store near him had 8 or.so (3 [or was it two?] of which i got for you minus the one that broke in transpo) and i planned on getting you one to fully complete my year long apology box for that mishap

 

My only regret about the 70s was I was too young to go to a lot of epic concerts

Back at you! I drink Satan’s piss primarily during the hot days when in the middle of back-breaking, soul-crushing land work outside. If it’s cold, liquid, and has an ABV to slow my breathing and anger, then I’ll drink it. Hell, I still have five Genny Ruby red Kolsch in the fridge for the next tour of dirt duty. LOL!

I never did drugs, other than beer, that I…allegedly…might have…arguably “stolen”…from my corner store employer during my teens. If someone else did anything stronger, no judgement, you do you.

 

I’m not interested in any apology because no apology is necessary! I’m more enjoying having Bear Temper USA book ends. LOL!

 

I can neither confirm or deny, but that shit was everywhere then. To me it seemed like it just destroyed lives. Meanwhile they were still ruining people's lives over pot....
