Isn’t Lazy Days still producing Ex Novo beers for the Oregon market. Or maybe a Lazy Days FH Smelliot…

Agreed but I think with climate change..early September might be optimal

Breakside is doing something for this year's fresh hop season that we've never done before. Our favorite time of year is almost here!

Considering all Breakside normally does that's quite a statement and I'm very much looking forward to whatever it is!

Posted on the Living Häus Instagram account about an hour ago:

Summer is in full swing and that can only mean one thing, it’s almost hop harvesting time.

We took a little trip to the @colemanagriculture Greenleaf farm to check in on the progress of their Strata hops. Things are shaping up nicely, friends. We can’t wait to see how this year’s crops turn out!

Our first fresh hop beer of the season is being brewed tomorrow with our buds @vcbcbeer and we’re fucking pumped.

    -----

So are we, Living Häus! So are we!

(BTW: "vcbcbeer" is Ventura Coast Beer Co.)

A beer Slack group I’m in has a custom emoji thats a gif of Rick Flair yelling “Whoo!”, and that seems like the only appropriate response to a brewery announcing they’re making 17 fresh hop beers in a season.

indeed. i will say the Stormbreaker offerings are a bit hit and miss each year, which is understandable if you're making 17 FH beers. kind of just throwing a bunch of (tasty) sh*t up against the wall and see what sticks

Early October is probably ideal. Beers brewed with hot side fresh hop additions tend to come out later in the season, while cold side fresh hop beers have mostly all been released by the end of September, so you'll have the greatest variety in October. You'll still find a ton of fresh hop beers around the NW in September, but most of the elite stuff is hot side fresh hopped, Breakside being the one exception I can think of.

Yep. I think 17 is pretty close to what they make each year now (give or take). Usually several will be very good, several more will be pretty good, several will be OK and several will be pretty "meh.". A couple will make you wonder where the fh character is in the beer.

Typically, they'll release 2 or 3 fh beers to start the season in mid to late August. I'm expecting that'll be the case again this year.

Facebook story posted by Away Days Brewing Co. this afternoon:

    Goschie Farms here we come!
Deadline Day Fresh Hop Pale...coming very soon!

    -----

Deadline Day Pale is a good one. Last year Away Days did an English version with fresh Hallertau hops and an American version with Centennial hops, both from Goschie Farms.

Just back from a 5 country swing in Europe. I drank roughly 80 liters of unfiltered Pilsner Urquells in Prague from the tank and can say it was better than my crazy high expectations. And now I get to bask in the glory of fresh hop season here at home.

I saw today Stormbreaker released their Fresh Hop Total Rekolsch according to their Instagram. Let's go!

Yep. That's what their Facebook page indicates as well. In fact, it appears to already be on tap at Roscoe's, Imperial and Beermongers.

Probably not my favorite expression of fh character (Kolsch), but at the very least it's a harbinger of good things to come. :sunglasses:

    On Facebook, from Breakside Brewing:

Fresh Hop Season is here! We are excited to announce the release of Breakside’s first Fresh Hop beer of 2024. Fresh Hop Pilsner released today and will be available in all of our locations and select accounts for the next few weeks. The next fresh hop beers will follow Pilsner in about two weeks.

Hmmm... While I'm happy and excited to see/try their fh pilsner, I'm not happy to hear that their next fh beer won't be out for another couple of weeks.
