Really? It's 0908 here on the NW PA tundra and nobody's opened the Virtual Bar yet?

I've also posted in the trade forum - I'm looking for Rowsdower from Two Plumbers brewing in St. Charles, MO.

Good afternoon to everyone trickling in…

Today I’m trying a Swiss beer that’s styled itself the “anti IPA” -not sure why- and a “bitter blonde beer with sage”.

Without reading the ingredients listed, I might’ve thought this had some wheat thrown in. It’s likely the herbs that make me feel that way. Much like a witbier, with sage in place of coriander, though this is obvious more in the smell than the taste, there are some nice yeasty flavours as well as sweet malt. Well balanced… this isn’t really so so bitter, but it is very good

Next up is another BFM brew…

La Brouette amber ale with green tea.

I don’t usually like flavoured beers, nor brewers that rely on funky gimmicks to try to stick out from the pack. But I do appreciate a brewer using ingredients that compliment, or even accentuate the base beer, without taking over.

In this case, this beer, like the last, presents heavy yeast and malt flavours that marry well with the otherwise unorthodox additions. The tea is more discernible on the nose than on the palate, where it offers (to my taste) just a little sourness. The beer isn’t as nutty as some amber ales. It actually reminds me of a Belgian abbey beer

Will resume catching up on threads after much needed rest, but for what I have caught
    • Thanks for the shout out @defunksta , I look forward to buying your recommended IPAs after I clear my currently packed refrigerator.
    • @keilerdunkel - Cool we enjoyed Brewery Vivant's flagship simultaneously. Liked the space, staff and selections I tried, would probably eat elsewhere. Will be looking for their beers here down the road.

Back in my normal retirement summer routine, go out on a bike ride at 8 a.m., do any banking or shopping, get back home in the AC by noon, and drink a 9% IPA
