I'll see if I have time to run over. Would probably be tomorrow at the soonest. I'll shoot you a pm if I can make it over there.

Another thing I've noticed, which really only applies to anchorage at the moment but, hey, they got brought up, is that pastry stouts aged in oak feel ultra sweet and get an offputting flavor to me.

I like most of their stouts if it's from an actual liquor barrel, but I avoid every oak aged stout no matter what rating it has.

Learned personally here from that Oak Aged Yeti from back in the day.

Well the next one won’t quell any sweet tooth complaints- a BA GCCS collab with Angry Chair where they added cinnamon and vanilla to the mix.

For those picking up from LZ today, you may want to stop into Consume as well. Just tapped S-101 and tasting excellent. Still my fave of the single barrels.

To go a little off topic here, I actually like the way Angry Chair uses their adjuncts, but I find that their base stout has a really off taste to me. I get it in stouts every now and then, but I don't have enough experience to really tell what it is. My friend called it "wet cardboard" once. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Were these relatively fresh stouts, or did they have some age on it? I often get cardboard or wet cardboard off of aged stouts. It's a sign of oxidation from my understanding. Hence the reason many of us who built these stout "cellars" was dumb AF.

I went to Consume for dinner, wanting the S101. Absolutely fantastic! And they had some other great options including Cantillon Kriek, yum! An expensive night but worth it.

I'll have to consider that the next time I notice it. I can tell you the last one was relatively fresh. It was from tavour, so you're always on a delay, but I drank it right after I got it.

Cardboard is usually oxidation, but I doubt that's the case with the fresh beers of theirs.
I do know what you mean about AC though, I get that in their sub 10% ABV beers. They're watery, thin and the extracts add that weird flavor. I think it's the extract dosing, they don't often use real ingredients. Especially ones with "hazelnut flavored coffee", that one's terrible. Two Pump Chump is the name.

$35 with tax! Did this go down since last time? I remember most of their bottles being $40...

Ha - fair point - that pissed me off last time too - but no, they specifically say proxies are allowed for this release only (whatever that means)

It's not allowed for Arabesque. So maybe that's why the specific note.

Arabesque Reserve and Minutiae Reserve were $40. These aren't "Reserve" versions, so I assume that's the price difference you're thinking of.
