Cloudy and cool (low 80s) today, made for an easy round of golf. Elevated IPA in the grille afterward.

    Westmalle Extra.
One of the oldest beers produced by Westmalle, originally brewed exclusively for the monks and guests of the abbey. It was traditionally served as a 'patersbier' (Father’s beer) during meals. Since recent years it is (somewhat) widely available in shops and supermarkets in Belgium and the Netherlands

    1) Utepils Keller Pils (5.2%): A Kellerbier from Minnesota with flavors of smooth bread malts and yeast. Moderately bitter.
    versus
    2) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German-style pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner: Fair State Pilsner
Minneosta Pilsner Battle. First is Utepils Keller Pils. Czech unfiltered lager. Bread notes, yeast, lightly salty and bitter. Excellent.
Next is Fair State Pils. The Gold-standard Pilsner in Minnesota. Lemonflower. Bitter, and clean. One of the best.

L’Atelier Craft Brewery (France) ‘Wake Up. Kick Ass. Repeat.’ NZ DDH DIPA.,. Cheeeeers!

8.8% ABV, packed a couple weeks ago. It has Rakau, Motueka and Pacifica hops, a unique combo, and a damn fine beer.,.,

    1) Toppling Goliath Mosaic Mamba (8.5% canned 8/12/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Mosaic and Galaxy for flavors of orange, passionfruit, with tropical melon and blueberry. Clean
    versus
    2) BlackStack Pseudoscience (8.4% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Citra, Nectaron, and Nelson for flavors of Orange citrus, pineapple, white grape, berries, and mango. Sweet. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner: BlackStack Pseudoscience
Toppling Goliath vs. BlackStack IPA Battle. First is a fresh release from Toppling Goliath. Galaxy and Mosaic. Nice combo of orange, passionfruit from the Galaxy balanced by some underlying tropical melon and blueberry from the Mosaic. Finishes incredibly clean and dry for the higher ABV. Incredible drinkability. Nice balance of flavors without anything too fancy. Once again as usual a top shelf IPA from Toppling Goliath.
Next is BlackStack Pseudoscience, a collab with Toppling Goliath. Great combo of Citra and New Zealand hops. Classic BlackStack flavors with some juicy pineapple and grape notes. Incredibly juicy, flavorful, and sweet. One of my favorites all time from BlackStack.

Done with work for the day and started a pot of chicken/andouille Cajun soup for dinner. Having a Wormtown Fresh Patch Pumpkin Ale, it's pretty good. A bit heavier on the spices than the Giant Pumpkin, but the spice blend is pretty nicely balanced. I like it.

I have fond memories of Pete's and "Phoenix" Cardinal's football games at ASU's Sun Devil Stadium, so exciting to have craft beer at the stadium back in the early 90's! You'll have to let us know how the clone turns out.
Me, i am enjoying a 30th anniversary beer from Highland, the brewery that started the craft beer craze in the Asheville area. Their brews can be found in the Southeast, always solid. Below is a link about Oskar Wong's story.
    Cheers!

Toppling Goliath Haze Cadet (7.8% canned 4/15/24): A NEIPA from Iowa (collab with Boulevard in KC) with Citra and Strata for flavors of orange, blood orange, tropical OJ, papaya, and mango.

Continuing the Toppling Goliath trend today. Last one of these. For an over four month old IPA I know it's Toppling Goliath so I wasn't worried. These tend to hold up well and I kept it refrigerated. Nice Citra and Strata. Excellent balance of orange, grapefruit, papaya, and mango. Still holding strong. I've learned you never rmiss with Toppling Goliath.
