Burn Em Fourteen Buck Chuck APA (Citra). Checking out this brewery’s new spot. Much different than the little house it was based out of when I used to live out this way. I miss the old place and the vibe it had, but good for them for expanding and adding a kitchen with a good looking menu. The beer is still tasty which is the important thing and they’re playing King Gizzard so I’m not complaining.

Burn Em Red Zeppelin American Amber. A straightforward classic American Amber with a nice balance between bready/toasty malts and earthy, herbal, and slightly fruity hops. They’ve been making this one for a long time and I’ve never had it. Solid.

Prepping for my Fantasy Football draft Sunday. I drew the 10th pick, which means I also have the 11th pick. Trying to decide between CeeDee, Ja'mar, and Tyreek, or should I pick one of them and a top running back.

    1) Off Color Tooth and Claw (5.0%): A Czech Pilsner from Chicago with flavors of pale malts, smooth bread malts and a vinous yeast. Mildly bitter. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)
    versus
    2) Talking Waters Reality Czech (5.0%): A Czech Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of pale malts, salted bread, and yeast. Finishes bitter. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner: Off Color Tooth and Claw
Czech Pils Battle. First is Off Color Tooth and claw. One of my favorites. Bitter bread notes and smooth. Outstanding.
Next is Talking Waters. Similar bread notes, slightly more citrus and fruity yeast. Drinks similar, but not quite as bitter.
I mismatched these blind. I had thought Talking Waters was better last time I did this battle, but today I think I'm going with Off Color Tooth and Claw. Has a bit more rounded and bitterness.
Off Color is one of the most hidden gems of a brewery in Chicago. Nearly all of their beers are memorable in some way.

    1) Phase Three House Plants (8.1% canned 7/10/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Vic Secret and Rakau with flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, pear, green melon.
    versus
    2) Phase Three Rule Of Thirds (7.7% canned 7/10/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic & Nelson for flavors of white grape, snappy passionfruit, zesty citrus and tropical berries. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Phase Three Rule Of Thirds
Phase Three IPA Battle. First is House Plants. Nice Citra plus some Vic Secret and Rakau to add some grapefruit, mango, and pear notes. It's lightly tart. The flavors shine without it being too sweet. Excellent as usual for Phase Three.
Next is Rule Of Thirds. Citra, Mosaic, Nelson. Not a better hop combination out there. Nelson adds some grape notes to the tropical berries of Mosaic. Juicy, yet clean. Oustanding flavors and blend of hops. These are some oustanding Phase Three haze.

The Swinkels Brewery is doing a lot of white and alternative labeled beers.
Bavaria Pilsner and Swinckels itself is ok.
Bavaria made name 2-3 decades ago by offering a low alcohol pilsener still acceptable in taste.
They do a variety of beer. I even rated different beers of them with the same or slightly different label and the differences can be huge, Versatility can be praisedm but at the end it is about taste.
One thing remains, optimized for a certain price category.
To me the 8.6 is a beer for homeless and beggars.
Please try to find something better.

KC Bier Co. -- Never Say IPA
    India pale ale
    ABV: 5.8%; pouring temperature: 44 °F; canning info: n/a
Source: Tactical Bob (an old neighbor)

    3.9/5 rDev -0.5%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Golden yellow body made slightly hazy by dense, lively carbonation bubbles; thick, white head, frothy and sculpted, long-lasting. Excellent nose; fresh cut lemon with a lemon cake maltiness. The taste follows along the lines of subtle lemon cake; light herbal bitterness. Medium body; crisp with a mild coarseness of the palate.

An all-around nicely made India pale ale. The current notes indicate a German interpretation of an American IPA. I'm not exactly sure what they mean by that, but I'd wager there's some sort of radler influence (due to the upfront lemon qualities in the smell and taste. Regardless, this is an easy drinking, refreshing IPA.
