It's funny I used to do the same thing, though not on labor. I would save one can of Heady Topper and drink it a year later right before we went back to Vermont each year. Like you, I felt it drank incredibly well, even a year after canning.

Next up is a classic beer I'm certain I've tried before, but somehow never reviewed. Note to self...buy more of this!

Generally dark caramel in color, but towards the thinner bottom of the glass more light is able to shine through and there's an almost birch beer like appearance. Loads of foamy tan head with excellent retention and good lacing. Overall, a very attractive beer.

Caramel vibes on the nose, with no hops present. Taste mostly follows...lots of sweet malts....caramel & toffee. Nice dry finish, but no hop bite. Medium-light bodied and very smooth and clean.

    Overall, excellent beer.

Anthem Brewing ( OKC ) In Your Eyes Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, 10.6% ABV; 4.13 overall

Pours a thick mahogany/ebony with a fast-falling mocha colored head. Minimal head retention & lacing, plenty of viscosity

S: Plums, prunes; booze & cocoa once warm

T: Follows the nose, dark chocolate, a touch of saltiness on them plums, raisins & dryness up front. Sweet dark chocolate, more dark fruit, a little bite of salt & dryness as this beer warms up. Finishes plenty sweet, dark chocolate, a little vanilla, a kiss of plum brandy & dryness

MF: Medium /thick body, not a lot of carbonation, warming. Just gets chewier as this beer warms up

A very solid BA Imp stout, a sipper for sure. I wish they would put these in smaller bottles & make them 4 packs

Really liked reading your description of this one. I particularly enjoyed this, "A lovely, delicate/breezy expression of cherry."

A second new beer for me today - Anchorage Brewing’s “Together Again” a DIPA brewed with Amarillo and DDH with Strata and Galaxy:

Pours a peach juice deep gold with clarity on the edges; fluffy white foam; good cap retention; heavy ring; soapy lacing. Passionfruit and peach nose; hint of strawberry; spicy. Taste is peach, passionfruit, guava, lemon and orange; firm malt base; very little bitterness. Medium full body; soft feel; no astringency; light carbonation. Overall, a tasty easy drinking HazyLite; spicy citrus linger.

    4.25 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 4.25 | 4.5
    Score: 4.42 rDev: +5.7%

Another excellent HazyLite from Anchorage that rarely disappoints; I would gladly buy again. Cheers y’all!

The batch is about 3 months old, it may have been canned late than that. I never had it from a can. I have drank it out of the tap in June and July. Fresher out the tap I would give it a 3.81/5.
It has as a short shelf life if it sits warm. Should always be kept cold.

Poured from a twelve ounce can, the body is amber with white fluffy head. Good lacing.

Aroma is a nutty malt and a light hop. Taste follows nose with a bit more malt and a light caramel sweetness. Finish brings a welcome light hop bite that balances the beer.

    Medium mouthfeel and strong carbonation.

    Solid, hoppy marzen.

    Russian River - Mosaic Stack

500ml bottle served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Bottled 072924, bought it an hour ago at Chuck's Hop Shop Seward Park.

Pours clear golden with a big, vigorous head, lots of active carbonation. As the head settles, it turns cobwebby. Smell is melon, bubblegum, papaya, mango skin, dank.

Taste is lemon zest and grapefruit rind, light honey and heavy papaya juice, some grain tea sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium, smooth, a bit more still than the appearance suggested. Overall, very nice IPA.

Vacation was great. I was more than a little impressed with the Polish beer scene (more detail here), I think you would love the grodziskie scene, dude. I was blown away by sub-4% beers.

    Here's a real special one.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/323/41154/

    11.2 oz. bottle.
    Bottle #04090
June 2013; yes, over eleven years old.

Vigorous pour yields a 1/16th inch tan head over a black body.
    Head is gone in seconds.

Nose of chocolate, scotch, roasted malt, dark fruit, oak.

Taste of bitter chocolate, scotch, dark fruit, and leather with a roasty chocolate bitterness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is silky, not quite flat with little to no carbonation.

Overall, what a treat this is; not for everyone, but definitely for me!
I was 30 when the casks were filled by Highland Park and 60 when Harviestoun filled them with this Stout!!

    Cheers!!!

Good evening fellow beer lovers! (That’s PC, right?)
My evening beer (since I have already rated the other Oktoberfest beer I have) is a porter from Harmony, which is a brewery I tried a couple times and found them wanting.
But a peat smoked porter? I was curious.
Poured coffee black and struggled to hold a light brown head.
The taste leads with the smoked peat flavor, which almost dominated the porter but the flavor of the smoke gives way to a more traditional coffee and cacao malt profile. Smoked coffee and cacao maybe.
The feel is like drinking cold coffee but with a little carbonation, which is somehow accenting the taste.
OA, I haven’t been the biggest fan of Harmony, but I am a fan of this porter.
Cheers! Back later for my nightcap.
