I was a bit tempted, but not this time.

Yes, value is a personal perception, but I don't think there's any situation where I'd drop $85 on a 12-pack retail, no matter the available beers. On top of that (as has been pointed out) 1/3 of those beers are available up the road from me at considerably less cost.

And sure, we can compare drinking at a bar or tap room (apples to oranges IMO), but I rarely do that anymore for just the reasons I'm stating here. And I don't think I've ever had 12 beers at a bar -- $7 a draft or otherwise!

This box is not significantly different from the BeerAdvocate/Untappd Oktoberfest box from last year.

You’re right. Three quarters of the box is the same (at least the same brewer). For the other quarter, they replaced Foundation, Hacker Pschorr and KCBC with Ayinger, Notch and Von Ebert. I personally call that an improvement — but not a massive difference when weighed against all 12 beers.

It’s funny. Last year I was shocked by the price they were trying to charge for this. This year, it’s still about 4X more than I want to pay, but I could envision a world where, if I couldn’t already easily lay my hands on most of these beers, I might pay it to try them. Thanks inflation!

This one ships to my zip code so I'm in! There are several choices that got my attention, plus I see it as a "contribution " that I happen to also get interesting beer from.

I understand that I am not the target audience, but the reason I can’t ever get into these boxes is the markup - not the price in and of itself. I’d rather buy 2 bottles of wine that are $50 each than pay a 300-400% markup on beers that I can get for ~$2. At this price, it should include shipping. Quite literally, these beers are like $24-32.

It’s just principle for me - I FEEL like I am getting ripped off. That is the part that is hard to swallow. And by that, I mean that it also feels like I am getting taken advantage of. At least if I pay $8 draft at a bar I got (1) draft and (2) that is comparable pricing. There isn’t a world where this is comparable pricing.
