Often referred to as “West Coast” style, looking for solid recommendations for double/triple IPAs with the following characteristics: - little to no sweetness / fruit - no milk / lactose - bone dry - high IBU Thank you.
Heady Topper? (not West Coast, but still.... largely meets those criteria) Pliny the Elder? --- to start ?
It's a challenge, man, given distribution by state. There are also plenty of big Midwestern beers that might satisfy that west coast bitter desire: some Half Acre, Bell's Two Hearted, Fathead brewing offerings (HeadHunter, IBUsive)... but as a fellow bitter-seeker, it's become a bit more challenging. Happy hunting!
This is a question for your regional forum. There's thousands of them around the country but 90% of those won't be available to you in any reasonable way
The validation of “it’s become a bit more challenging” is very much real and appreciated. Thanks for writing big-time.
Many, many such offerings available on the other coast—maybe not so much where you are. My favorite of late (was not aware this was even available in cans until recently): And as a bonus, per the OP, it’s a triple! However, at 11.5% I’m not sure I’d characterize this beer as “dry.” Any classic old-school West Coast IPA should scratch the itch though.
I am almost certain you won’t find it in New York—but if you’re ever in Oregon or Washington (maybe California) be sure to look for it. Also Boneyard RPM probably would fit the bill.
