Cross posted in New Beer Weekend. This is last one for me tonight, as this one turned out to be fairly beastly in my glass. This is Imprint Beer Company out of Hatfield, PA and their 3 year Anniversary barleywine. Double barrel aged, rye whiskey, then rum. Ive had the bottle for a little over 2years I think.... From @browniewithnuts as part of NFL 33 BIF winnings... I think.

    onto my review:
Sampling this 500 ml bottle that has been in my cellar for over a year. came to me courtesy of a BIF. Pouring into my trusty snifter.
The beer pours a lighter chestnut color with some golden highlights, sits slightly darker in the glass. Only the faintest fizzy beige head foams up on the pour and is almost instantly gone. Very close to still in appearance on the pour.
Aroma is boozy from the top. I get rum and whiskey and general fusol notes. A little black peppery which I also attribute to the booze. No hop character and this one seems like a sipper.
First sip reveals a smooth texture and some stickiness too, if that makes sense. The beer coats my palate and also feels lighter than I would have thought, almost no carbonation feel either. WOO, a lot of heat on this one too! WOW....definitely sipping this the rest of the evening. No ABV listed on label, but it is boozy. ANd its been in my cellar for quite a while.
Flavor is light toffee, then rum and some sharper whiskey notes coming through. A bit of brown sugar and then lots of black pepper bite and heat from the booziness. Never any hop character on this one.
If you like to drink fire, this beer might be for you . I think I enjoy it, but not sure yet as its just very boozy, which I normally like, but this one is hot.

Early 2010 Old Guardian from Stone. Stored refrigerated or cellar temp since 2010. A nice hiss as the cap is popped. Pours with almost no head. The nose is really nice. A wine note comes through immediately, followed by caramel and mild citrus hops. Plums, apricot, oak, and a really nice floral note also emerge.

The taste isn't quite as nice as the nose. The components are there - toffee, citrus hop bitterness, stone fruit, and raisins. However, an odd metallic note (oxidation) joins the fray and isn't necessarily a kind guest. Don't get me wrong, this is still very drinkable and really good. It's just not what it was about 6 years ago (probably my favorite age for this one). What sucks is that I still have bottles older than this one. Better open them soon!

Not a problem. Borrow the hot tub Time Machine of @russpowell. I suggest a quick stop in the 1980s to buy Microsoft and Apple stock

Enjoying the 2023 version of Endolith from Jackie O's. My pallet tells me the barrel team did a better job than the 2022 version. Many thanks to @DIM for the opportunity to try!
    Cheers!

That is a gem, tempting to order more of them. Phils need to get healthy for the playoffs!

Thought I'd join Tom with something from Jackie O's tonight. 2022 Wood Ya Honey, a barrel aged wheatwine.

Nicely sweet and sticky, got a kinda boozy bananas foster vibe to it. Cheers @CarolinaCardinals !

    Tree House: Tree of Possibility.

Blend of 2 year and 1 year barrel aged barleywine. Thick, decadent, sweet. Huge caramel apple vibes here. This is top of the food chain stuff here. Put it up there against any of the heavy hitters. 1 year in the bottle has done this very well. I don’t remember being quite as impressed when it was fresh.

Minimal Space from Temporal Artisan Ales in Vancouver, BC. A munichwine aged in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel. 14.42% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp after wrestling with the wax for about 5 minutes! Pours a nice dark murky brown with minimal head. The nose is insane. Toffee, brown sugar, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, figs, plums, raisins, slight note of tar, and a light tobacco note.

The taste is amazing. When I think munichwine, I think sweet. This is a nice balance and not cloying. Strong notes of burnt toffee, Christmas fruit cake, black licorice, bourbon, vanilla, barrel char, brown sugar, slight maple, raisins, figs, and some prunes. Just a wonderful beer.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a boozy toffee aftertaste. Overall, this is probably my favorite munichwine that I have tried.

It is a perfect day in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I must keep it going with this phenomenal barrel-aged barleywine. Thank you, @ChicagoJ!

American Barley Wine from Brouwerij Kees in the Netherlands. This can is now a few years old, but it's still tasting great. I love this one quite a bit. A nice mix of American and English styles. Slightly hoppy, but also tons of toffee and malts.

Endolith. A smooth English style barleywine by Jackie O’s. No sign of that 13.6% ABV. Cheers.

One cannot go wrong with the JO barrel program, always very good at a reasonable price point. Also, big thanks for the Phillies mostly taking care of the Mets over last weekend! The D-Backs need all the help they can get!
    Cheers!

It's Wednesday, you know what that means.

Barreled Souls Knob Creek Big Bang American Barleywine (2022). Rich and sweet is the name of the game here. Butterscotch, toffee, golden raisins, and vanilla. A little bit of bitterness from the hops, but not much.

Three more bottles to go from my 2 year stint in Barreled Souls' bottle club. They're delicious, but 500mL of high octane stout or barleywine are kind of a bear when you're drinking by yourself (with a 6 month pregnant wife by your side.)

Nice! I'm a member this year, and will be picking up my stash in early 2025. I have a feeling it will take me a while to get through all of them! Cheers to the forthcoming child!

It’s one of my standards so I’ll be replenishing the bottle shortly. My cousin is getting married in Columbus in two weeks so I’ll hit their newish pub there.
