I stumbled across a 2024 holiday beer case at Costco yesterday. This year they have a 24 pack of 500 ml cans from Germany. The selection has 24 different beers with more variety than I anticipated although most of the selections are light colored beers. Styles include zwickl, pilsener, maibock, dunkels, bock, hefeweizen, kellerbier, winter festbier, dark lager, rauchbier, strong lager, landbier, red ale and others. I've only tried one so far, a Vollbier Helles, and it was better than expected (my last holiday 24-pack from a different source was more than a little disappointing). It's well packaged: The case opens to an overlay over the cans showing what lies beneath, and a guide under the lid to each of the 24 different beers.
Price in South Carolina was about $2.30/can.

Do they have a lot of the same from last year? We’ve done the past couple of years and doesn’t seem to be a pattern of carryovers

Does this mean it’s official acceptable to start drinking Christmas beers?

    Acceptable, but unofficial.

I’ll take one of two! Low threshold of social acceptability required for this guy.

They’re already putting out the Christmas decorations? Talk about seasonal creep. I’m looking forward to Halloween, and that’s still seven weeks away.

I've always wanted to try this collection but unfortunately, I don't live near a Costco. It appears to be a good way to try a wide range of German beer styles, though I'm not sure of the overall quality.

I’m waiting for the Guinness St. Patrick’s Day displays to pop up at my distro, maybe that’ll be around New Year’s Eve this year.

I was unemployed and living in the Finger Lakes region of NY in the early 80s. I'd pick a nearby town, apply for jobs in area factories in the morning (had to keep a list or NJ would cut off my Unemployment checks) and then do some bar hopping looking for great old taverns in the afternoon.
Picked the town of Owego one day, applied at IBM and hit a cool little bar downtown, near the Susquehanna River IIRC. Had a Matt's or Genesee (maybe? It was 40 years ago) and looking around - they had one of those neat old Steinie-bottle shaped beer coolers with lazy-Susan shelves, and a ton of St. Patrick's Day decorations - including a homemade, large carved wood "___ Days to St. Patrick's Day" that read something like "17".

"Cool place but a little heavy on the St. Patrick's Day stuff," I thought to myself, "I bet they dye the beer green..."

Got the job a month or so later and stopped in before work (hey, night shift) one day. Looked the same, except that big wooden sign now read:
"325 Days to St. Patrick's Day"
    :grimacing:
    Oh.

In Hoover AL the cost was $59.95 for the box of 24. I also note the variety. In the prior year boxes my favorites were the helles. They also have a website that gives a little more info about each beer Biergarten Collection

The recent years the box was marked advent calendar. This year the box says Biergarten collection, nothing about advent or holiday. All the brands in this year's box are new to me.

It looks like there are 6 German breweries represented, but not Augustiner.

Still a great mixed pack. I was wondering because Augustiner Helles has shown up in a number of places, which is rare - at least around Atlanta. I'm going to check that out for sure.

Last year it was $70 in Hawaii and then around December 1 it dropped to $50 so I guess by not calling it an advent calendar they won't have to discount it. Looking at the picture it looks like most of the beers are new compared to last year unless they just changed the labels.
