Search engines like Google, to someone trying to steal our data, to a company building a contextual database to help advertisers better reach their targets, to AI / LLM training, to someone poking around for security vulnerabilities that they can exploit. It's literally everything you can imagine and much more, plus there are new bots doing new things every day.

In the last week, we've received over 25M requests. Around 10M were likely human, over 5M were verified bots (search engines and whatnot), and the other 10M is now being challenged or blocked. It's insane.

I get challenged by Cloudflare at least once a day. I'm wondering what about me makes them think I'm a bot.

Every visitor is essentially given a threat score (IP reputation) based on numerous criteria (the main one being the IP that they're visiting from), and IP addresses for some users might be shared or change often based on whatever network they're currently using.

    From Cloudflare:

...I am now being challenged sometimes several times a day, likely because I'm using a VPN, sometimes with a dedicated IP address, sometimes not...no big deal...haven't failed a check yet at first try ...

I just got challenged when I tried to log in, and it took 30-40 seconds before it let me in. Then I got challenged again when I clicked to check my alerts. That one seemed to lock up so I closed it and ended up with a screen full of jibberish coding. I couldn't get out of that screen unless I clicked on my BA tab to start the logon process again.

I logged out and logged back in again and it worked okay.

Almost 4 hours later hours later I logged out and back in with no challenge or other issues.

(I should mention that the challenge that I reported in post #25 was with a different device from what I was using this morning when I said everything was okay.)

@PapaGoose03 Glad you got it sorted out. Logging in and out will often fix certain issues, as will clearing the cache for the site in your browser.

Same here. The system even spat me out when I was writing a post yesterday. I hope the issue will get resolved.

Your IP address seems to change a lot on a daily basis. And each IP has a different threat level. Challenges are also unique to your specific device, browser, and session.

But I’m going to see if I can make some further adjustments on certain pages/actions.

I'm logging in from a VPN to my corporate system. I'm guessing I get a lot of random IP addresses.

Everytime I'm liking a post today I have to get verified and it's not letting me post either without getting verified

When this happens, are you liking a bunch of posts in a row?

(Also, your IP address often changes multiple times a day.)

Using my laptop with Firefox and logged in as Mod, seems fine. Just one request to click on the "are you a human" box when first opening BA.

Not a bunch but a handful (I'm selective how I spread the likes ).

I switch from a work computer to a phone so I guess that would explain the IP address fluctuations.

I am unable to open and check my alerts, conversations, or my points via my laptop. I get an error page, then the screen goes to a wall of text with pretty print at the top. I've cleared my browser, logged in and out but it's still not functioning properly. Using my phone seems to be alright re this problem.

Getting frequent challenges on my Linux laptop, about once every few minutes.

It's not behind a firewall or a VPN, so I don't know what's going on. I'm not trying to post anything yet (but am typing up a post), and the back button doesn't take me back to the BA Oktoberfest forum where this is happening.

Error message: This action is available via POST only. Please press the back button and try again.

Update: still getting numerous challenges (many times when not doing a thing on the Linux laptop), but they are getting fewer and further between time (perhaps every 20 minutes or so). Nothing like this on my Windows machines.

@beergoot Looks like your IP address changed a dozen times in the last 24 hours and many of the IPs resolve to a VPN service. Not sure which ones are your Linux laptop.

As for the POST error, there's a bunch of forum actions use the POST method, like saving your post in the background as a draft when you're typing up a post, likes, etc. I just made some adjustments specifically to these actions and how Cloudflare handles them.

Let me know if you notice any improvements.
