It's that time of year, kids!
Bierman9 is off once again for my annual trip to Europe (well, almost annual. FU Covid!).

Starting in München 18SEP for 6 nights. Then Maastricht 24SEP for 4 with Gent at the end 28SEP for 6x....

München will have me at my 38th Oktoberfest (37th in a row) plus side trips to Andechs and Bamberg.

From Maastricht I look to visit Amsterdam and bicycle down to the Abbey at Val Dieu. Also maybe Leuven.

Gent? Lots there, plus Antwerp, Bruges, Diksmuide and Ypres....

Maybe I'll cross paths with some of y'all...

    Wish my liver well.... ;-)

    Prost!!

    Pace yourself, man!

Okto season is always the worst for my waistline.

Oh yeah, and have a brat for me outside the Hacker tent!

Enjoy! I confess that I avoid the Oktoberfest these days. However, if you plan well, as I am sure you have, you can really enjoy it! Augustiner has a new non-alcoholic beer that has made quite an impression - if you get a chance, I recommend you try it! Prost!

I've been to a few different tents on the closing night, including Augustiner. Lots of sparklers get lit up, the band marches around a bit. You can practically feel the relief from all of the hard working staff. I have video...somewhere!

So... wrapping up day 2 in Munich right now...

Arrived on time yesterday morn.... exiting the terminal and went by Airbräu... 915am, with minimal sleep and jetlag? Eff it! In and had a decent Märzen. Then to my Airbnb... Later out and walked around the old city center. Had some tasty Brats at the Viktualienmarkt, along with one of the freshest, tastiest rolls I've had... Then to Schneider's Weisses Bräuhaus... sat outside in the lovely weather and had a couple of glasses of their Hopfenweisse...mmmmm...
Later went via public transport to Augustiner Schützengarten.... a Mass of their Helles was right on... then by bus to Augustiner Drei Mühlen for suppah.... a fantastic Schnitzel Cordon Bleu was accompanied by Augustiner Edelstoff.... after that? A bus back downtown and an Aventinus nightcap back at Schneider's... great 1st day!

Lots more walking today.... started at Marienplatz then through the Hofgarten and then the Englischer Garten. Lunched at the Chinescher Turm.... brats, pommes and a litre of Hofbräuhaus Oktoberfest....lots more walking... later ended up at Wirtshaus am Bavariapark for more Augustiner Edelstoff...
Back right now at Augustiner Drei Mühlen for another Cordon Bleu and even more Edelstoff...

    All for now!
    Prost!!

@Bierman9 Went to HopDog in Munich first time last month. Specializing in the small Franconian breweries beers. Liked it.

Glad I had Hummel Merkendorf beers on there. They were on Urlaub the whole 17 days we were in Bamberg.

Day 7 now... on a train heading to Maastricht Netherlands...

Friday, day 3 ... Hopped a train to Bamberg. Did some sightseeing and photography... ended up at Heller Schlenkerla and had a couple of Rauchbiers in the Schwemme. Then snagged a seat in the Stube for a Bamberger Zwiebel... more walking. Ended up at Klosterbräu for one of their Rauchbiers. Back through town and 1 more at Spezial. Train back to München where I had a big-ass bowl of chili at Tap-House München. Washed down with a tasty Germeringer Firewood Rauch.

Saturday, day 4. Opening day of The Oktoberfest! Walked around the grounds a bit... warm, sunny day, like the past 3. Met my BnB host, Björn, and we squeezed into a bench outside at the Augustiner tent. We had a great time chit-chatting over 3 litres each of liquid gold.... finally headed out and made my way again to Tap-House. Had another bowl of chili with a half litre of Schneider Hopfenweisse. Calling it a day!!!

    Prost!!

My poor liver is throbbing by just reading about all that beer!

Thanks for the updates; I'm 'traveling' with you and enjoying it immensely.

Enjoy your time in The Netherlands. Will you provide updates here or in that forum?

Wrapping up the Germany portion now....

Sunday, day 5.... up and out.... caught a train to Tutzing then a bus to Kloster Andechs. Train going along Lake Starnberg with the Alps in the distance was awesome! Did the obligatory stop in the church before heading to the Stube... a litre Doppelbock bitte! Sat out on the patio and soaked up the great weather! Laxed then had another. Finally good to go. Bus to Herrsching and S-Bahn to Munich. Off at Hackerbrücke and a short walk to The Fest. Had a Spaten before meeting my host, Björn... had another with him before meeting a friend of his. Snagged some seats inside the Augustiner tent and finished things up. Only night of the 6 there where I felt fuzzy at the end of things..... Yikes!

Monday, day 6.... slept late before wandering around the Viktualienmarkt and Marienplatz. Had a nice bowl of Spätzle at Weisses Bräuhaus, with a Hopfenweisse.... U-Bahn to the Wiesn.... had a last litre at Augustiner.... out and bused to Drei Mühlen. Had a couple Edelstoff with one more kick-ass Cordon Bleu...

My 38th Fest is in the books, 37 straight. And I got my official Oktoberfest Krug, too...

Off to Maastricht Netherlands next... and you can pick that up in the Belgium forum...

    Prost!!

We stayed 16 nights in Bamberg in 2023. We've been 11 times, the stays keep getting longer.
