I went yesterday around 1pm. It was surprisingly dead.

FO and FOCOCOMO were great. Toasted Marshmallow was my personal favorite.

Maple was...unnecessary(?). I dunno, I don't like syrup stouts but I guess it was fine.

Lemon Meringue and Huckleberry both tasted like exactly what they were going for, I'm sure, but I couldn't do more than a taster of either. The Huckleberry had cinnamon in it, which I also don't like in stouts, but it wasn't over the top.

Toasted Marshmallow, FO + Maple, regular FO, and FOCOCOMO were all fantastic. Haven't tried the Lemon Meringue or Huckleberry yet. My favorite might be FO + Maple. I didn't think the maple was too dominant - just added a nice touch.

My semi-annual plea for more Details & Dialects. A GOAT among BL beers - even though there are a lot.

Anyone have any guesses on the 10/25 beer?

I have no problems with making a light pilsner or light lager. Those can be delicious and just what I want on a hot day.

I just think the build-up wasn't really warranted. MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT!!! We're making the same beer every other brewery already makes.

And that’s my take. BL doesn’t usually do anything mysterious and to have that as the payoff, meh…

Still a fan! Just sad it wasn’t something a little more exciting. Cheers to new beers!

So if the announcement was another sextuple-mash stout with 52 additions aged in barrels for 24 months, wouldn’t that have also fit the criteria of a “beer every other brewery already makes”?

Yeah, actshcthsychtsually, I think in this case light lagers are more scarce, at least when it comes to craft breweries.

No. Maybe you need to get out of your craft beer bubble? How many breweries in the world make light pilsners or light lagers? I'd say close to 20,000... since that's roughly how many breweries exist in the world. How many make barrel aged stouts at all, let alone heavy mash and aged for more than 6 months? Maybe a few thousand. Maybe. Almost no breweries outside of the US makes barrel aged stouts, and the US only has 8000 breweries. Even if half of those make BA stouts, which they don't, that is only 20% of the world's breweries. And if half of those go with double mash or age for more than 6 mo to a year, then we're at 10%... and that is EXTREMELY generous for what most normal breweries in the US actually do.

While I agree that yet another BA stout from BL isn't some blockbuster news item, I'd venture a guess that the majority of beer made by BL is not of the BA stout style.

Tried Fococomo tonight. Wow, not good. Tastes like it’s on its way out, with the nose being just a bit off, too.

    More Details & Dialects pls!

Looking at volume, and including macro, and especially including breweries outside of the US, misses point.

This forum, and especially this thread, is about craft beer, so getting out of that bubble is precisely losing the script.

People who buy light lager from Bottle Logic aren't looking for Natty Light. In my experience, which isn't insignificant, most craft breweries do not make light lagers or pilsners. Many of those that do absolutely suck at it.

I love the announcement, and the price. $10 for 6x16oz is cheap. Hopefully it’s well done and distributed.

Say more. I have a bottle I’m looking forward to opening here soon. What did you not enjoy about it?

It really did seem to be on its way out. Everyone’s palate can have an off day, so I can’t say for certain, nor do I know if it just started turning or what, but that coffee flavor was stunningly bad and bitter and a slight detection of classic off notes on the nose (metallic, souring). Nothing I usually get from a BL beer. I’ve been drinking BL since 2016 and I’m quite comfortable with what to expect, and rarely disappointed. *shrugs*

I don’t want to start a scare here and I’m hopeful that my palate was off. I have another bottle I’ll break open to try again, but my first one was bad enough to drain pour, which doesn’t happen that often.

I had it almost two months ago and thought there was no where near enough coffee to break through or balance the coconut. Wonder if you got the bottom of the tank where all my gd coffee settled lol.

Lol…maybe! It wasn't good coffee, what I was tasting, so while unbalanced, consider yourself lucky!

I didn't get a chance to try FOCOCOMO on draft and didn't get any bottles, but last year I had FOMO+. I was really disappointed with it. I thought the coffee flavor was barely there, and it had a nutty flavor I really hated.
