After seeing William Parker's trio last night, at The DeLUXE Theater, I'm obsessed with the guitar player in his band, Ava Mendoza.



Spinning my William Parker albums, Mayan Space Station has Mendoza playing. Since none of these songs are available streaming wise (I can't find them anyway), here is some Mendoza noodling around

1) Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier (5.5%): A Europen Export from Germany with flavors of earthy honey and floral notes. Earthy Munich malts.

2) Weihenstephaner Festbier (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale Munich bread malts. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind

Winner: Ayinger Jahrhundert
German Dortmunder vs Festbier Battle. First is Ayinger Jahrhundert. Smooth honey and flower flavors. One of the best German lagers out there.
Next is Weihenstephaner Festbier. Similar aromas. Slightly more bready and yeasty flavors.
A fun comparison between the two styles. Both are outstanding German lagers, but slight edge to Jahrhundert.

 

one of my favorite stouts right there, still have one aging in my fridge from like 2014. Had an excellent experience at LA back in like 2010 drinkg Serpent's Stout. cheers!

Happy nfl Sunday ba. No jets so I’m just leisurely enjoying the early game action. Into it here w/ Konstantin, austrian marzen, schilling. Been looking forward to try their ofest offerings and this doesn’t disappoint. Nice and dry with heavier on the malt. Good notes of toasted bread, and grains. Subtle sweetness on the finish but very clean with no off flavors. Nice stuff,
