What beer are you drinking now? #4356

Birrificio Artigianale Ex Fabrica (Piacenza, ITA)- TREBBIA - India Pale Ale (6,5%)

IPA from a brewery opened in 2013, which over time has undergone several changes of leadership within it and lately is quite widely distributed even in places not specialized in craft beer.
33 cl bottle (€5 from the bar fridge).
Herbaceous notes on the nose rounded by sweeter and more caramelly notes.
Poured it is a deep golden color tending towards orange.
Foam of the right amount, soft and creamy.
In the mouth it is a medium-bodied beer, in which the sweet notes of the malts open the drink. Subsequently the taste path quickly passes through fruity notes (ripe orange, persimmon) and slightly resinous.
The finish is dry, with those herbaceous notes held back in the bitterness by the return of the roundness of soft malty notes.
It's a classic example of an IPA designed by a craft brewery to try to "disturb" as little as possible, at the cost of remaining anonymous: contained in everything. Too standard.
Better a quality that costs more, than to live in anonymity.

Raul here. I guess that I wish I had a Pliny right now… but 60 Minute is a very good beer in itself, and it will do. Today I won my very competitive fantasy baseball league (with longtime friends) for the first time in our 14 year history. Fun stuff. Every now and then I think we just need some fun stuff and such.

Anyway, back to beer. When I really got into craft in 2012, and started trading, I was confused and disappointed when I traded for the likes of Arctic Panzer Wolf (and definitely HopSlam, but that’s kind of another thing). I also remember when I had Hercules for the first time (who makes it? Epic?) Sadly, I just thought they sucked. But in those moments, I had only been familiar with West Coast IPA’s. So after getting some knowledge and things coming full circle… hot damn! I love a good malty IPA. 60 Minute is pretty good, but I think Founders Centennial and Double Trouble are the kings.

As BA says, “Enjoy what’s in your glass!” (Well, unless you decide to chug from the bottle like Raul is doing now.)
