I anticipated this moment as soon as Jamey Jasta said from the stage at Milwaukee Metalfest that Hatebreed would be playing in Green Bay, Wisconsin, today, with the almighty Carcass. But I am not feeling good physically, emotionally, or spiritually. I had quite a weekend last weekend, which lead to not getting good sleep, which I believe lead directly to getting a bad cold. The usual progression of bad colds for me means last night was going to be when I cannot sleep at all due to extreme coughing. That proved to be true. But compounding my suffering exponentially was a polar bear destroying the hopes and dreams of the state of Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Brewers fans all over the world. The joy @beerloserLI experienced last night with Pete Alonzo of the New York Mets' 3-run home run, down by 2 runs, with one out in the ninth inning of an elimination game, may not be as severe as the horror I felt. Every time I almost fell asleep last night, I couldn't breathe, then started coughing severely, only to replay Pete Alonso's home run and the New York Mets fans faces go from impending doom to overwhelming joy, over and over again in my head. Hopefully this beer helps get me through the afternoon. It is very delicious. A worthy addition to the series.

I don't think Von Trapp makes a beer that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed?

This is an amazing beer that the generous @cheeseheadinMinneapolis so kindly gave to me.

From a 12oz bottle. It was bottled in 2023 for their 35th anniversary.

A bit of smoke came from the bottle when I popped the cap. This beer is a dark and clear amber color. There's a 1 finger tan head on this beer. The head retention is quite good. There's minimal lacing on the glass.
Aroma of this beer is a good hit of bourbon. I also get a hit of caramel malt from the nose.
Taste - I get a lot here. It starts off with hints of caramel from the malts, and it's a powerful hit of caramel. The malty caramel mellows out and then the bourbon barrel flavors hit. I get the woody caramel notes with a punch of vanilla.
I am really digging the body of this beer. Very full and smooth feeling. There's just a faint burn to tell you to take your time here.
This is a very delicious beer. Very well made and a pleasure to try.

I thought this might be a bit too sweet, it's not, but it is hot. Martin House Brewing's Doctor Evil, a whiskey barrel aged stout. Good enough.
