Tasty, but hop flavor isn't really infused, every once in a while you get a morsel with a little chunk of hops in it that screams bitterness, but mostly it's just vanilla ice cream

Ahh I see.. if they'd infuse it into the ice cream and made some ipa-style flavors/combos that'd be a gamechanger.

 

Highland Brewing Clawhammer. Prost!

 

1) Phase Three Rule Of Thirds (7.7% canned 7/10/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic & Nelson for flavors of white grape, snappy passionfruit, zesty citrus and tropical berries.
versus
2) Hop Butcher Through The Uprights (7.8% canned 9/4/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Amarillo, Simcoe, and Nelson with flavors of tropical orange, pineapple, stonefruit, and sweet grape. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner: Phase Three Rule Of Thirds
Chicago NEIPA Battle. First is Phase Three Rule Of Thirds. Wonderful combo of Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson. Grapefruit and vinous white grape notes from the Nelson balanced by blueberry Mosaic flavors.
Next is Hop Butcher Through The Uprights. Another great hop combo with Citra and Nelson, but some Simcoe instead of the Mosaic. Very similar with sweet orange, pineapple, stonefruit, and tropical grape flavors. Shows the sweet grape from the Nelson well.
Phase Three tends to drink drier and Hop Butcher slightly sweeter. Both are outstanding IPAs, but slight edge to Phase Three here with the Nelson flavors. One of their best IPAs.

 

Yardwork and house repairs complete. Beer, playoff baseball, and college football for the rest of the day/night. Cheers!

Drekker Hausterhosen (5.5%): A Marzen Oktoberfest from North Dakota with flavors of earthy bread, toast, brown sugar, and smoke. Clean and dry.

A new Oktoberfest Marzen from Drekker. The first year they've brewed this one. Nice bready and caramel malts. Toasty, with some brown sugar and smokey notes. Yet, and clean and dry finish. Excellent flavors without getting too sweet. Rating: 4.08
