Welcome back, brother! I'm in Yakima at the fresh hop festival and I'm not even going to try to keep up live on here. So much magic!

 

Yeah, I kinda figured you were up there given "where" you were reporting from and the season. Jealous. Can't wait for our trip to Oregon this coming week and hopefully there's a BUNCH of fresh hop beers still left over.... cheers! Enjoy the magic....

I just burned my Saturday chilling at the Buffalo site, so I “should” be catching up on that damned lawn again. I’m hoping it’s the final mow for the season.

I’m drinking the Richmond’s 2 year anniversary BA PB&J sandwich sour. It’s $10 a pop, but it’s a nice drink.

Rain check, but when we meet up, it’ll be a blast. I’m always a PITA to nail down for meet ups…just ask @Blogjackets . I think we’ve been trying to work out a time for two years now.

P.S. If you order a The Fillings Are Mutual, be prepared for Concord grape urine for a day or two. The antioxidants are strong in that one.

I've been active in NBW today. Time to post here with a very bittersweet entry. Today is the first Saturday in October. Today would have been the Oktoberfest celebration in Dallas, WI at Valkyrie Brewing. I, my friend Tim, and @cheeseheadinMinneapolis were there a year ago for the last one - though it wasn't a sure thing at the time. I bought this bottle at said Oktoberfest, and this is my final bottle of it. I will miss Valkyrie Brewing. Rest in peace Valkyrie.

 

Kicking off the night with this Kalamazoo Stout. As far as American Stouts go I think this fantastic. Lots of flavor and really easygoing.

Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a fairly bright, light golden body with sticky lacing.

Nose of spice with a bit of floral/herbal aromas as well.

Taste of spice and a slight sweetness with a crisp and moderately bitter finish.

Mouthfeel has more than medium fullness with medium carbonation.

Overall, a great representation of the style and would highly recommend!
