Today's New Breakfast Beer:



From my local brewpub - after being open seven years, they're finally beginning to produce a decent brew.

Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated can) I had two of these on tap yesterday with some spicy food so I had to bring some home to really taste. When it was allowed to reach the proper temperature range, sans interference from spicy foods, the flavor was distinctly improved, allowing the stout flavors to supersede the expresso.

A good day for us. Our daughter who lives in Tampa has decided not to ride this one out and has evacuated. She had a fair amount of flooding with Helene, and Milton looks like it will be worse.

Hop Butcher Through the Uprights DIPA (Citra, Nelson, Amarillo, Simcoe). Purple and white grapes, tangerine, kumquat, ruby red grapefruit, grass, apricot, resin, passionfruit. Firm bitterness on this one. Nicely done.

 

Sticky Fingers, a wet hopped Pilsner from Sketchbbok. Wet hop beers are rarely my jam but this was mild enough to enjoy a bit.

 

Good afternoon, all! I'm drinking this and you're not: Bravus Oktoberfest. I picked up a few low-alcohol beers this morning on a whim, and this is one of them. Outstanding - in appearance. From there, it really isn't too bad. I'm grilling some ribs as we speak: St. Louis style, with a Memphis-style spice rub and sauce (Gates) from Kansas City. Brined yesterday in a solution of brown sugar, kosher salt, Sriracha, and Maggi Jugo, slow-cooked for six hours this morning, and finished on the grill. If anybody wants me I'll be in my happy place. With a real beer. Cheers!
